Breaking: Two and a Half Men Goes on Hiatus as Charlie Sheen Enters Rehab

Charlie Sheen is finally getting the help those close to him so desperately hoped for.

Following Thursday’s hospitalization for alleged “abdominal pain,” the actor’s publicist Stan Rosenfield confirms that his client is ready for treatment. “Charlie Sheen has voluntarily entered an undisclosed rehabilitation center today,” the rep said in a statement Friday. “He is most grateful to all who have expressed their concern.”

As a result of Sheen’s decision to seek treatment, production on his CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men has been shut down.

But the team behind the hit comedy is rallying around the troubled star, making their support known in a joint statement Friday:

“Due to Charlie Sheen’s decision to enter a rehabilitation center, CBS, Warner Bros. Television and executive producer Chuck Lorre are placing Two and a Half Men on production hiatus. We are profoundly concerned for his health and well-being, and support his decision”

Sheen’s decision to enter rehab is a far cry from the statement his rep released earlier today, confirming the actor’s plans to return to work on Men Tuesday. But, as Deadline reported in early January, it’s a welcome surprise given the studios’ growing concern over Sheen’s well being.

  • CBS Warner Bros. were so concerned they should have shut down production a couple of years ago and told him either go to rehab or we will replace you. They are really just concerned with profits.

  • This is good news. Maybe he will stop doing this show and it can finally be canceled. Its a badly written bs show

  • Just read elsewhere on Twitter that Demi Lovato just checked out of rehab today.

Two shipwrecks that pass in the night.

Pity, they would have made a lovely couple.

    • So the abdominal problem Charlie Sheen was reported to have must have been a hiatus hernia.

  • Hoping he gets better so they can keep the show going. There’s no replacing him. He needs help, otherwise he’ll be another actor dying before his time.

  • I hope he stays as long as necessary to get clean and sober, and build a good base for continuing sobriety. Addiction is a horrible disease for the addict and those who loved them.

  • Wow…what a bunch of evil-hater comments. Don’t like the show, don’t watch it…no one is making you. Don’t like the man? Why are you following news about him?
Good luck, Charlie. Hope everything works out for you, one day at a time.

  • He needs to find a ‘women abuser’ rehab. He is a sorry excuse for a man.

  • Big deal, this is the second time he has held up production and jobs for many people who need the money and depend on him to be a professional. I used to like this show but he and it have gotten old. I liked when they were starting to show some maturity in the character such as the engagement with Chelsie. But its back to him being a sex hound, both in reality and fiction. I wish him good luck, but I don’t think he really wants to change.
