But in his portrayer’s capable hands, it was instead harrowing -– hard to watch, but impossible to turn away from. To wit: When the going got tough for his ex-colleague Kalinda (Emmy winner Archie Panjabi), Cary stood by her both as a loyal friend and a trusted mole. Unfortunately for her, Emmy is sci-fi averse, so for every Gillian Anderson who gets recognized for The X-Files, there’s more than one Mary McDonnell who isn’t for Battlestar Galactica.
