Damian Lewis, Homeland
"It actually was a gift," the best drama actor winner said of Season 2's gripping interrogation scene. "[The director] allowed it to run like a piece of theater — and coming from the theater, that's the best and productive way for me to work. We were running takes that were lasting 21, 22 minutes long...That's probably why it's come out as richly as it has."

Homeland executive producer Alex Gansa
"If we were panicked after the first season's success, we're utterly terrified for Season 3," Gansa said shortly after the Showtime series won for best drama. He then joked, "We haven't heard from our [CIA] consultants since we blew up our CIA at the end of the season."

Game Change executive producer Jay Roach
Will the winner in the best TV-movie/miniseries category get a sequel? Exec producer Jay Roach acknowledged, "The authors of the {Game Change] book are busily working on the next book [about the 2012 presidential election], but we're not sure what that will be."

Julianne Moore, Game Change
"I was actually glad I got a chance to mention [sometime Sarah Palin impersonator Tina Fey] in my speech tonight," said the winner for best actress in a TV-movie/miniseries. "What she and Katie Couric did [during the 2008 White House race] was extraordinary. It changed that election."

Kevin Costner, Hatfields & McCoys
"If you've ever had a chance to stand up here, the feeling is as good as you think it is," he said backstage in the press room, after winning for best actor in a TV-movie/miniseries. As for whether he might brave another Western, the actor — whose resume also includes the likes of Silverado and Wyatt Earp — allowed, "I'll revisit that area... They're our Shakespeare... I like to invest in the language that comes with history."

Girls creator Lena Dunham
Addressing the backlash the just-returned HBO comedy drew during Season 1, Dunham (who also stars on the series) shrugged, "I'm sure people dislike the show for plenty of reasons.... When you get criticism, you have have to be eloquent and appreciate it." She's just glad that such an unconventional and frank comedy found a home, on HBO. "[Best drama actress winner] Claire Danes put it beautifully: [We're] just really excited to be working in this [cable TV] medium with these people."

Lena Dunham, Girls
After claiming the prize for best comedy actress, Dunham had some 'splaining to do. First, about her stumbling around the Globes stage. "[Wearing heels] is a tough gig," she admitted. "I feel like if I was a brave and reckless as [my character], I'd wear flats. But I drank the Kool-Aid." Then, about the odd inclusion of Chad Lowe in her acceptance speech: "Because Hilary Swank forgot [Lowe in her 2000 Oscars speech]. And because I'm an a–hole."
