TVLine Readers' 2022 Wish List For Virgin River, This Is Us, Yellowstone, Stranger Things, 9-1-1 And More
As Santa Claus readies his sleigh for Christmas Eve deliveries, let's hope he leaves some room for another #OneChicago crossover, a renewal for Dexter: New Blood, an Animal Kingdom prequel and perhaps some mistletoe to dangle over Law & Order: SVU's Benson and Stabler.
Those are just some of the items on TVLine readers' wish lists for 2022, which you shared with us earlier in December. And though we can't make any promises about which wishes might be granted in the new year — if any! — we're eager to share 25 of your small-screen requests in the list below.
After sorting through your wishes, one thing is clear: You're hoping for many a 'ship to set sail in 2022, including The Walking Dead's Daryl and Carol, Ted Lasso's Ted and Rebecca and All American's Layla and Jordan. (Sorry about that, Simone!) But you're also interested in a resurrection of NBC's cancelled Good Girls, a worthy adversary for Yellowstone's Beth and the presence of a particular character in HBO's upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff, among other asks.
Our roundup also includes wishes related to Grey's Anatomy, Succession, Magnum P.I., Nancy Drew and plenty more series. (Note: Submissions have been edited for content and clarity.)
Scroll through the list below to see what your fellow TVLine readers are wishing for in 2022, then drop a comment with your own hopes for the new year. Happy holidays, TVLiners!
Oncer's Wish:
"That Link from Grey's Anatomy officially and fully moves on from Amelia, and gets together with bestie Jo. Amelia and Link don't want the same things out of life, but he and Jo do. They'd be perfect together. They already know and trust each other... Plus, sometimes the best relationships stem from a friendship. Ultimately, I just want Jo to experience love again, a romantic love. The character deserves it."
DD's Wish:
"That the This Is Us series finale is just as satisfying as its pilot. The show has had its ups and downs, but has never disappointed with character development, and I truly hope the final season has me laughing, crying, bawling, and just feeling good!"
Will's Wish:
"That B Positive evolves into a show similar to its Thursday predecessor Mom and has a long and successful run. The series is a showcase for the talent of star Annaleigh Ashford, a truly gifted comedienne and actress, who makes every episode a joy to watch. Her comedic timing and physical comedy are impeccable. And we get to see Cannoli, as well. Who's a good boy?" (Editor's Note: We agree about Cannoli, Will!)
Drew's Wish:
"My wish for '22, unlikely as it is to come to pass, is for Netflix to move to a weekly release schedule for new TV seasons. Let new episodes release weekly to build up anticipation for the next, for fans and blogs and press to theorize and discuss, and most importantly, minimize 'full season' spoilers on the day of release."
Michelle's Wish:
"More viewers for Nancy Drew. The show is so much more than a supernatural mystery show. It's well-acted — Kennedy McMann truly embodies her character every week — has smart, heartfelt writing, and is always a highlight of my week. Also, the actors and writers have cultivated such a kind relationship with the fandom that I've never seen before."
Ingmar's Wish:
"I am hopeful for more #OneChicago crossovers. While it's very understandable that the amount of crossovers decreased by quite a bit due to the pandemic, I would be lying if I said I don't miss them. I miss the big crossovers, but it's characters popping in on the other Chicago shows that I miss the most — Burgess in Chicago Fire, Jay in Chicago Med, etc."
Annalise's Wish:
"Absolutely love The Sex Lives of College Girls. I hope Season 2 gives us more Bela and Eric. This is the slow burn 'ship I never knew I wanted."
Bonnie's Wish:
"I would love to see Dexter: New Blood picked up as a regularly run weekly program again. I have missed this show so much! Am really enjoying this special edition but will once again be sad when these few episodes end."
Kimberly's Wish:
"For Good Girls to be saved. There's still so much left to be told, and my heart aches knowing the cast misses it just as much as us fans!"
Sydney's Wish:
"For Ted and Rebecca to take the leap from just friends to lovers [on Ted Lasso]. There's no way these two are just meant to be platonic soulmates. Not when the show has done so much to lay the foundation for the relationship to grow into more-than-just-friends territory — especially not after the funeral episode, which was the best episode of the series."
Connie's Wish:
"That HBO's House of the Dragon has a character as fascinating as Tyrion."
Anne's Wish:
"I'd really like to see someone stand up to Beth on Yellowstone, and come out on top."
Caroline's Wish:
"For Virgin River not to separate Jack and Mel too much as they figure out this truly strange paternity storyline."
Paul's Wish:
"With Animal Kingdom coming to a close after next season, a new series about the younger days of all the Cody family members could be quite entertaining."
Rob's Wish:
"OK, we've waited long enough. It's way overdue for Juliet Higgins and Thomas Magnum [on Magnum P.I.] to admit they have feelings for each other! My Christmas wish is for them to finally become a couple!"
Jennifer's Wish:
"That my favorite show, 9-1-1, gets back to the roots of what makes it an amazing show: the 118 'FireFam,' the crazy calls and rescues, and the hope that these characters could find, even in dark times."
Emma's Wish:
"For the budding romance between [All American's] Layla and Jordan to blossom."
Laura's Wish:
"For The Roku Channel to make more Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. Whether that means more movies or another season, I'd be happy with anything. Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas highlighted everything that makes the show so special and it left me wanting more! Here's hoping that Roku comes to the rescue once again."
Nikki's Wish:
"That Daryl and Carol go canon during The Walking Dead's final season. It's a 'ship that's been loved by fans for so long that they even gave them their own spinoff! It's time for 'Caryl' to finally happen."
Alex's Wish:
"For Stranger Things Season 4 to be worth the three-year wait."
Matt's Wish:
"That NCIS: Hawai'i would bring along NCIS: New Orleans characters Sebastian Lund and Tammy Gregorio. I miss the chemistry of those two characters and would love to see their continued growth and development as best friends on NCIS: Hawai'i!"
Gail's Wish:
"On Chicago Fire, my hope is that they have no more relationship drama for 'Stellaride,' and that there is smooth sailing that ends in a wedding."
Traci's Wish:
"For John Cho to be cast as a series regular on any show that won't be cancelled for a few years." (RIP, Cowboy Bebop!)
Becky's Wish:
"Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler finally kiss and... well, you know... on Law & Order: SVU/Organized Crime."
JB'S Wish:
"That we see Season 4 of Succession premiere in the year 2022. Actually, is it possible to just turn the new season over before the new year?! A girl can dream!"
