TVLine Readers Give Thanks For Great Fantasy TV, Community Movie, Days' Big Move, Slow Burn 'Ships And More

Before we gather 'round the dinner table and pile on the mashed potatoes, TVLine readers have some thanks to give for this year's remarkable television.

Earlier this month, we asked you to submit your small-screen gratitude for 2022 — and you delivered in a big way, showing appreciation for everything from the flourishing fantasy genre to fictional romances that are developing at a lovely, leisurely pace. (Well, not too leisurely. Many of you want #Chenford to happen on The Rookie, and you want it now, please.)

In the list below, we've singled out 20 expressions of gratitude, including thanks for a fulfilled Community prophecy, Magnum P.I.'s second life at NBC, James Gunn's new role at DC Studios and This Is Us' exquisite final season, to name a few.

Readers also tipped their hats to So Help Me Todd's freshman season, The Good Fight's satisfying series finale, The Resident's Episode 100 wedding and more. (Note: Submissions have been edited for content and clarity.)

Keep scrolling to see all 20 picks, then drop a comment with the 2022 television for which you are most grateful. Happy Thanksgiving, TVLine readers!

BETH SAYS...

"I am thankful for the slow burn of 'Chenford' on The Rookie. Season 5 has really turned up the heat on Tim and Lucy, and there's no longer any doubt that they are falling for each other. Between the undercover couple trope, to those around them picking up on the tension, The Rookie has done this build-up right and I cannot wait for more!"

BRIAN SAYS...

"I am thankful the Community movie is finally happening! I never thought I'd see the day when the prophecy was finally fulfilled! #SixSeasonsAndAMovie"

ADRIENNE SAYS...

"Sooooo many things come to mind, but the one bit of joy that brought me to tears was seeing Grand Crew renewed. It is such an incredible gem of a show and deserves a much larger audience. It's sweet, funny, smart, well-acted, well-written, well-everything! I am so grateful to NBC for giving it a second season and truly hope more people will discover it next year!"

MERISSA SAYS...

"Thank the TV gods for James Gunn's appointment to co-lead DC Studios. Gives me hope we'll continue to have good comic content on our TV screens for the foreseeable future!"

NATHANIEL SAYS...

"While I believe that television, for the most part, has been lackluster this year, I have thoroughly enjoyed Jacob Batalon gracing us with his presence in Syfy's Reginald the Vampire, as well as the rest of the cast."

MARIA SAYS...

"I'm thankful for the final episode of Chesapeake Shores being as lovely as it was. It was a fitting goodbye to what was, in my opinion, Hallmark's most underrated show."

'SPUFFY' SAYS...

"This TV season, I am most thankful for Welcome to Wrexham, which lifted my spirits, made me laugh and let me root for the underdog. I don't even like soccer (or any sport, for that matter), and I found myself rooting for the Red Dragons week after week. I'm even more grateful that this delightful show will be back for a second series. Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are a hilarious pairing! Thank you, FX!"

PAUL SAYS...

"I am thankful for the $4.05 billion that Disney spent to acquire the rights to Star Wars. With titles like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Obi-Wan Kenobi and particularly Andor, they have spent their money well."

'ONCER' SAYS...

"I am grateful that the writers of Grey's Anatomy are building up a slow burn romance between Jo and Link. The timing is finally right for them to get together."

INGMAR SAYS...

"I'm grateful that The Good Fight managed to go out with a bang. A few of them. Literal. The ending suited the show, and I'm so happy that the show got the chance to go out on their own terms. So well-written, amazing acting and it was nice to follow Diane and Marissa into their next chapters. It feels weird to say goodbye to this show, but I'm forever grateful, as well."

DAX SAYS...

"I am thankful for last season's breakout comedies, Ghosts and Abbott Elementary, for coming back better and stronger and avoiding the dreaded sophomore slump. Thank you for giving network comedies that much-needed attention boost and a fighting chance for critical acclaim while being more accessible to viewers."

ANDREW SAYS...

"I'm thankful that Max Thieriot is a very relevant drama actor, even with everything that happened on SEAL Team. His new show Fire Country is a great vehicle for him to show his talent as an actor and executive producer."

LYNN SAYS...

"I admit it. I really thought Days of Our Lives moving exclusively to Peacock was a death knell for the soap opera, but in light of upcoming big cast returns (Bo and Hope!), exciting storylines, some great performances of late, and the cast and crew's seeming commitment to keeping the show afloat, I am actually thankful for the big move. It seems Peacock appreciates the soap, and I appreciate that!"

CYNTHIA SAYS...

"I am thankful for so many varied — and good! — shows in the sci-fi and fantasy genres recently: House of the Dragon, Rings of Power, Andor, The Sandman, She-Hulk, etc. Everyone seems to delight in fighting over which show is 'better' or pick at their flaws, but let's keep in mind that it wasn't until relatively recently (post-Game of Thrones) that TV embraced (and was willing to give big budgets to) quality sci-fi/fantasy content. It's nice to finally have multiple good choices even within the genre."

BETH SAYS...

"I am thankful for So Help Me Todd. It just cracks me up. I love seeing Todd in his 'office' along with his interactions with Margaret (astronaut diapers!) and the rest of the characters, and his mishaps and the way he just takes it all in stride. Every episode makes me laugh out loud."

DEBBIE SAYS...

"I'm thankful to NBC for picking up Magnum P.I. for two seasons. I don't think enough people realize the importance of the stories told. The showrunners have addressed PTSD, human trafficking, immigration, broken families, making a new life after unimaginable trauma and so much more. The show artfully combines important issues with humor, and most of all, Ohana."

WILL SAYS...

"I am grateful that the recent reboot of two iconic crime procedurals, Law & Order and CSI: Vegas, has resurrected two of my favorite TV characters, Jack McCoy and Catherine Willows. These two groundbreaking crime dramas are, to me, the pinnacle of what broadcast TV has to offer. It makes me nostalgic thinking about how, in the days before streaming, I would anticipate watching these two shows live (I never missed a single episode of either one) and then discussing them the next day with work colleagues and friends. Times may change but quality endures."

MATT SAYS...

"I'm thankful for Netflix's The Bastard Son & The Devil Himself, the best show that many people don't know about. It's suspenseful, sexy, funny and has an incredible cast."

NICOLE SAYS...

"I am so thankful for The Resident seeing Kit and Bell's relationship right through to a gorgeous wedding that I have watched more times than I can count! Rather than putting 'KitBell' together and relegating them to the background, they now have one of the healthiest relationships (and now marriages!) on television and have each other's backs at every turn."

MELISSA SAYS...

"I am most appreciative of the quality of the last season of This Is Us, particularly the last few episodes. Jon Huertas was so touching in the 'Miguel' episode, and I don't think I've ever seen a more moving and sad yet heartening television episode than 'The Train.' Mandy Moore's performance throughout the entire series was transcendent, and in this episode she was the most divine."
