1923 Sneak Peek: Death Circles Banner Creighton In Episode 2 (Exclusive)

The Montana winter spares no one, not even those with built-in wool coats.

So go easy on Banner Creighton when you see him in this Sunday's 1923 (Paramount+): He's just lost a crucial part of.. well, if not his family, his family's income.

"Got no flock anymore," Jerome Flynn's character says in the exclusive sneak peek above, explaining that an illness ran rampant through his beloved sheep and "killed them all."

If Banner is looking for sympathy, he's come to the wrong person: His boss, Donald Whitfield (played by Timothy Dalton), has nothing but laughter and told-ya-so's for the upset farmer. "Look at all you sacrificed and suffered to protect sheep," Whitfield sneers.

He goes on to twist the knife even more as the men ride into town — and even after the events of the Season 2 premiere — read recap — it's shocking how cruel he can be.

Elsewhere in the episode, per the official synopsis: "Things get contentious at the courthouse; Spencer stays in Galveston longer than he desires; Mother Nature makes her presence known."
