SNL's Donald Trump Raves About His 'Terrific' Tariffs, Pokes Fun At Morgan Wallen's Exit — Watch Video

Donald Trump defended his harsh new tariffs on Saturday Night Live this week — and maybe took a swipe at last week's musical guest, too.

Saturday's SNL opened with James Austin Johnson's President Trump singing the praises of his tariff plan, pointing out that the word "tariff" is just "short for 'terrific idea.'" He told us not to worry about the specific numbers involved, though: They're "like the numbers on the computer screen in Severance. You have no idea what the hell they mean." He also boasted that this new economic era will be even better than the Great Depression: "It will be a fantastic, unbelievable depression."

Trump then brought out a giant cardboard list of all the new tariffs he imposed on all sorts of countries, including a group of uninhabited islands called the Heard and McDonald Islands. Trump is a big McDonald's fan, so he liked the sound of that: "Can you imagine that? A Big Mac in a hula skirt. Ooh la la!" He even brought out a poster of a Big Mac in a hula skirt, gazing at it adoringly and saying, "Get me to God's country, right?" (That, of course, was a reference to SNL musical guest Morgan Wallen, who abruptly walked off the stage last week during the goodnights and then captioned a photo of his private jet, "Get me to God's country.")

Trump was then joined by Mike Myers' Elon Musk, who hyperactively hopped around and admitted defeat in this past week's Wisconsin Supreme Court election: "I'm an idiot. I should've just bought Wisconsin." He also introduced a new line of Teslas that are "fully self-vandalizing," saving protestors the time of slashing tires and applying graffiti: "You can choose from penises or swatiskas. Or my favorite: swastikas made out of penises."
