The Amazing Race: Phil Drops Another Big Surprise Twist On The Racers

Thought the days of non-elimination legs were over? Think again.

Phil delivered another bombshell at the pit stop of The Amazing Race's ninth leg: The last place team in Wednesday's episode would not be eliminated! It's been a couple seasons since we've seen non-eliminations, thanks in part to having larger casts at the starting line. But the Powers That Be's decision proved to be a game-saver for brother/sister duo Han and Holden, who fell significantly behind in the Naples, Italy leg of the race.

The siblings started at the front of the pack racing alongside Jonathan and Ana as they followed clues all the way to the Pulcinella statue. But after choosing a different Detour than their competitors, Han and Holden lost their lead trying to find the mozzarella task and that's where panic began to set in. As they struggled to construct the perfect cheesy braids, they watched with worry as each and every team completed the challenge and set off running. And this is where the duo lost the most amount of time.

After they finally perfected their mootz, they still had a grocery shopping task (mmm, salsicce!) and a pizza making challenge to go, and unfortunately, the siblings just weren't able to make up lost time. They looked done and dusted at the pit stop until Phil dropped his huge surprise: For the first time in a long time, this was a non-elimination leg, and Han and Holden would live to see another day in the race!

Were you surprised that the Race revived its non-elimination legs? And how happy were you to see bro and sis stay in the game? Sound off below!
