Outlander's Claire Begs Jamie Not To March To His Death In Tearjerking New Final Season Trailer
Sing me a song of a lad that is gone...?
Look, we don't know if James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser bites it in the upcoming eighth and final season of Starz's "Outlander." But we know this: In a new trailer released Thursday, Claire certainly thinks he will.
Mrs. Fraser, played by Caitríona Balfe, looks absolutely wrecked in the fresh footage above as she pleads with Jamie, played by Sam Heughan, not to join a battle that may end his life. But Jamie has a duty, and he'll do it to save Claire and the rest of his family.
"The only way to truly protect you and everyone I love is to fight," he tells her. (Though, is it just us, or does he sound pretty emotionally roughed-up, too?)
The new look at the time-travel drama's upcoming eighth and final season doubles down on what previous trailers put forth: the idea that perhaps Big Red meets his end when the Revolutionary War makes its way to the back country. After all, as Jamie notes, a book Frank wrote claims that Jamie dies at the Battle of Kings Mountain.
Season 8 of the Starz series will premiere on Friday, March 6, 2026. As the final run of episodes gets underway, the official synopsis tells us, "Jamie and Claire soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser's Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together. While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they've left the war for America's freedom behind, their fight for Fraser's Ridge has only just begun."
We first got a sense of what's to come in July, when Starz released the first "Outlander" final season trailer, which you can watch below.
The video also highlights the series' decade-plus run on Starz. When series star Sam Heughan finished his final work on the season in March, he teased that "It's going to be quite, quite an emotional one" and promised fans "I know you're going to love it."
