Emmys 2026: Charlie's Angels Reunite

The cast of "Charlie's Angels" reunited Monday at the 78th annual Primetime Emmys, only instead of fighting crime, they were celebrating the 50th anniversary of their hit ABC crime drama.

Kate Jackson (who played Sabrina Duncan), Cheryl Ladd (Kris Munroe), and Jaclyn Smith (Kelly Garrett) took the stage — to the tune of the "Charlie's Angels" theme song, of course — to present the award for Outstanding Drama Series. After receiving a standing ovation, the women took time to acknowledge Farrah Fawcett, an original "Angel" who died in 2009 at the age of 62. 

"As I've said many times, [she] doesn't need a second season, she's here with us in everyone's collective memory," said Smith about her late co-star.

"Farrah was the shiniest angel of all, and she was loved by millions of people all over the world, and she still is today," said Jackson. "They'll never forget her and neither will we."

"And her iconic poster lives in the minds and the garages of many a man," joked Ladd.  

The Emmy Awards aired September 14 on NBC and Peacock, with Mariska Hargitay serving as host (grade her opening monologue here). The night also included a mini "Buffy" reunion and a surprise Taylor Swift appearance. You can also view a full list of the night's winners here. 

"Charlie's Angels" ran on ABC for a total of five seasons from 1976-1981. The show followed three crime-fighting women working at a private detective agency in Los Angeles, and originally starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson, and Jaclyn Smith in the leading roles. John Forsythe provided the voice of their boss, the always unseen Charlie Townsend, who directed the trio over a speakerphone. David Doyle also starred as John Bosley, another of Charlie's employees, for all five seasons. 

Fawcett left the series after Season 1 and was replaced by Cheryl Ladd, who stayed on until the show's end. Jackson departed at the end of Season 3, ushering in Shelley Hack for Season 4 and later, Tanya Roberts in Season 5. Fawcett would return in Seasons 3 and 4 for guest spots. 

Drew Barrymore's Flower Films produced two revival films, 2000's "Charlie's Angels" and 2003's "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle." ABC attempted a TV reboot in 2011, but it was canceled after just one season. Elizabeth Banks later wrote and directed a new version for the big screen with 2019's "Charlie's Angels." That movie starred Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska.
