The Traitors: New Blood Recap: Who Was Chosen To Become The Third Traitor?
"The Traitors" have some deadly business to attend to in Thursday's third and fourth episodes of "New Blood."
Last week's cliffhanger saw traitors Tomica and Joe test two accomplices with a mighty difficult task: Retrieve a blank death warrant from one of the castle books without being detected. They chose Xavier and Katie for the challenge, but if one of them failed the mission, it would mean immediate death by order of the traitors! (Dun, dun, dunnnn!) But if both accomplices succeeded, then Tomica and Joe would get to choose between them to fill the open spot in the turret. The unlucky and unchosen faithful would have his or her photo smashed to pieces by Alan come the next morning's breakfast.
At the top of the new episodes, the accomplices meet their makers, and the look on Xavier and Katie's faces is pure shock. But did both of them retrieve their sought after death warrant? You betcha. With both dastardly deeds done, Tomica and Joe are forced to make a big decision that could affect the rest of their games. Katie tells them that she's a team player. She didn't vote to banish Madeline because she thought she was a traitor, and didn't want to be seen as someone already gunning for one of her own. Xavier, on the other hand, says there's already been heat on Katie... because he floated her name to others in the castle. If she had been banished at the previous roundtable, he knew it would've paved his way into the turret. Was that a smart move?
When Tomica and Joe speak in private, Xavier's strategy feels a little too "traitor on traitor" for their liking. So who did they decide would be their third traitor? Katie. Which means poor Xavier is immediately "murdered" and eliminated from the game. Guards, take him away!
Who else was eliminated from the game?
During the next mission, Ben and Michael sacrifice $10,000 in exchange for a clue about the traitors. That clue read: "Last night, two players battled in plain sight to become a traitor." I don't know about you, but... that doesn't really sound like much? Was that worth a whopping $10K? Michael seems to think so, and when the group asks him why he only banked $5,000, he holds the "clue" over the group's head like a little doggy treat.
With the roundtable looming, Arisa's "truth thing" she did with Victor makes many of the faithfuls feel uncomfortable. (She held Victor's hands in the billiards room and asked him if he was a traitor. Yanno. To get a vibe.) She claims it was "one of those kitschy kind of tests." But was it a recruitment in plain sight? We know it wasn't, but Michael seems to think so! So he wants to target both Arisa and Victor as soon as possible. Xavier's planted seeds about Katie do become a subject at the table, but when it's time to vote, Arisa can't shake her growing suspicions and she — another faithful! — is banished from the game.
When Tomica, Joe, and Katie meet back in the turret, Logan is the first person they shortlist. But: Logan was one of the people to bring up Xavier's suspicion of Katie. Abby L. is another option, a smart woman who could potentially put more heat on Sherry. Lastly, Mark, a curveball they all love, but agree they need to eventually kill. At breakfast all is revealed, and Logan is chosen at the traitors' next victim. In his last seconds on camera, he notes that he mentioned Katie the night before. "Maybe I got close," he speculates. Maybe, indeed!
