Before Young Sheldon, Emily Osment Was A Regular On Another Chuck Lorre Series
You could say Emily Osment grew up on a sitcom. She portrayed the titular character's best friend Lilly Truscott on the Disney Channel megahit (and its accompanying feature film) "Hannah Montana" from 2006 to 2011. But her journey in half-hour comedies didn't end with her adolescence. From there, Osment went on to leading roles as an adult in the sitcoms "Young & Hungry" and "Pretty Smart." Now, she has become a mainstay in Chuck Lorre's "The Big Bang Theory" universe. She starred as Mandy McAllister in "Young Sheldon" and reprised the role in its spin-off "Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage," currently airing its third season on CBS. But it turns out "Young Sheldon" wasn't her first time working on a Chuck Lorre show. Osment had a recurring role on the Netflix series "The Kominsky Method" as an aspiring actress.
"The Kominsky Method" centers on Sandy Kominsky (Michael Douglas), a once successful actor who teaches acting classes in Hollywood. Osment's character, Theresa, is one of the students in his class.
Osment appeared in 16 episodes throughout the show's three-season run from 2018 to 2021. She contributed to the Netflix show's nominations at the 2019 and 2022 Actor Awards (formerly the Screen Actors Guild Awards) for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series.
Emily's brother, Haley Joel Osment, was also in The Kominsky Method
At the end of Season 2, "The Kominsky Method" became a family affair when Emily's brother, Haley Joel Osment, joined the cast. Haley Joel played Robbie, the grandson of Sandy's friend Norman (Alan Arkin). In addition to the Season 2 finale, Robbie also appears in "The Kominsky Method" Season 3.
Although both Osment siblings were in the Chuck Lorre sitcom, their characters don't interact. They are in a wedding scene together but are not part of the same storyline. Emily and her brother, who were both child actors, have also voiced multiple characters on "Family Guy." But they have yet to properly share the screen. Haley Joel, however, has expressed his interest in doing a project where he gets to work with his sister.
"I know something will happen eventually because she's great and I'm so proud of everything she's done," Haley Joel told Us Weekly.
Emily and Haley Joel's father, Michael, was also an actor. Both have credited him for helping guide their acting careers.
