30 Rock Dominates Comedy Award Nominations
Comedy Central announced the nominees for their first annual Comedy Awards Tuesday morning, and 30 Rock is still the clear funny fave.
Although this awards season hasn't blessed the NBC powerhouse with its typical number of accolades, the people behind the Comedy Central honors are still completely smitten with it. And just in case you're curious, those people include, but are certainly not limited to, Chris Rock, Joan Rivers, Billy Crystal, Stephen Colbert and Conan O'Brien.
With two nominations apiece in each of the acting categories — both Alec Baldwin and Tracy Morgan are up for TV Comedy Actor; Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski for Comedy Actress — plus a series nod, 30 Rock is still the obvious fave among Hollywood's comedy community.
The Comedy Awards (which used be called the American Comedy Awards) also showed Glee's Jane Lynch and Modern Family's Ty Burrell some much-deserved love, as well as nominations for the less frequently appreciated Eastbound & Down and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
However, it must be said that just one nomination for Community (in the directing category), and nothing at all for Parks and Recreation is a huge travesty — how can you snub two of TV's best sitcoms?!
