Ben Stiller And Jessica Chastain To Star In Apple TV+'s The Off Weeks
Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain are about to be spending quite a few weeks together: The two actors will star in the Apple TV+ series The Off Weeks, TVLine has learned.
The eight-episode series follows divorced writing professor Gus Adler, who "struggles to hold things together during 'on weeks' when he has custody of his kids," per the official description. "But in his 'off weeks,' he's falling dangerously in love with Stella West, a mysterious woman whose arrival puts Gus' on-week duties and off-weeks ambitions on a fatal collision course."
Alissa Nutting (Made for Love) will serve as showrunner, with Michael Showalter (The Dropout) set to direct. Stiller and Chastain will serve as executive producers as well.
This marks Stiller's first starring role in a scripted TV series, although he's logged many guest spots on shows like Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm. (He also headlined the short-lived sketch comedy The Ben Stiller Show on Fox in the '90s.) He's best known for big-screen comedies like There's Something About Mary and Meet the Parents. Chastain is also primarily a film star, with roles in The Help, Zero Dark Thirty and The Eyes of Tammy Faye — the latter of which won her an Oscar, and was directed by Showalter.
Both stars also have an ongoing relationship with Apple TV+: Stiller is a director and EP on the Emmy-winning drama Severance, and Chastain is set to star in The Savant, debuting later this month.
