Chicago Med's Marlyne Barrett Exiting Ahead Of Season 11
An original cast member is scrubbing out of Chicago Med.
Marlyne Barrett, who has played ER nurse Maggie Lockwood since the show began back in 2015, will be leaving the NBC drama ahead of Season 11, TVLine has confirmed. (Deadline was the first to report the news.) Her departure is reportedly not permanent, and the door is open for her to return.
Last season, Maggie faced nursing union negotiations, culminating in a sick-out. Back in Season 5, the character was memorably diagnosed with breast cancer; Barrett later announced she herself had been diagnosed with uterine and ovarian cancer in July 2022. In September 2024, she shared that she was in complete remission.
Barrett's departure comes on the heels of the news that fellow OG star Nick Gehlfuss, who played Dr. Will Halstead until leaving the series in 2023, will return as a guest star in Season 11. Gehlfuss will join the two remaining original Chicago Med stars, S. Epatha Merkerson and Oliver Platt, who are confirmed to return in the fall.
Chicago Med Season 11 premieres on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 8/7c on NBC.
