Emily In Paris' Camille Razat Weighs In On Leaving The Series Ahead Of Season 5
Emily in Paris will be missing a gal pal when the Netflix comedy comes back for Season 5.
Camille Razat, who plays Emily's friend and Gabriel's ex-girlfriend, Cami, will not return to the show after four seasons as a series regular, our sister site Variety first reported. When TVLine reached out to Netflix for confirmation, the streamer responded with a list of returning cast members that did not feature Razat's name.
In Season 4, Cami juggled a relationship with girlfriend Sofia while pregnant with her ex Gabriel's baby, but the pregnancy turned out to be a false positive. The experience did, however, convince Cami that she wants to be a mother. In the finale, a now-single Cami told Emily that she's adopting a baby.
UPDATE: "After an incredible journey, I've made the decision to step away from Emily in Paris," Razat said in a statement to TVLine. "It has been a truly wonderful experience — one filled with growth, creativity, and unforgettable memories. I'm deeply grateful to Darren Star and the entire team at Netflix and Paramount for their trust and for giving me the opportunity to bring Camille to life and leaving the door open for her return, as she will always be a part of Emily In Paris world."
Razat, who can be seen in the upcoming Netflix series Nero and the Disney+ series Les Disparues de la Gare, added: "This character has meant a lot to me, and I feel that her storyline has naturally come to an end. It felt like the right moment to explore new horizons."
During a post-mortem Q&A, showrunner Darren Star told TVLine that he wasn't sure how much Cami's journey would be a part of the show moving forward.
"Characters can come in and out of a series, but you don't necessarily have to see them," Star said. "I don't know how much of Camille we'll see next season. But again, she's part of the world of the series."
Those cast members who are returning for Season 5 — which begins filming this May in Rome, Italy, before moving to Paris, France, later in the summer for a 2025 premiere — include all three of Emily's past and current love interests: Lucas Bravo (as Emily's ex, Gabriel), Lucien Laviscount (as ex Alfie, who had moved on with a new girlfriend in Season 4) and Eugenio Franceschini (as Emily's new Italian beau, Marcello). Also on board are: obviously Lily Collins (Emily Cooper), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie Grateau), Ashley Park (Mindy Chen), Samuel Arnold (Julien), Bruno Gouery (Luc) and William Abadie (Antoine Lambert).
Bravo's return comes after he expressed his frustration with Gabriel's arc, telling IndieWire in October 2024 that playing the character "is not fun anymore."
"The 'sexy chef' was very much part of me in Season 1 and we grew apart season after season because of the choices he makes and because of the direction they make him take," the actor said. "As they made him kind of unaware of his surroundings, of the dynamic, always victimizing and always being completely lost in translation and oblivious to anything that is happening around him and being manipulated by everyone, it kind of became not fun for me to shoot or to see a character I love so much and brought me so much, being slowly turned into guacamole. I really grew apart from him."
