Casting News: Felicity Huffman Joins Doc, Jen Garner Drama Adds Chloë Sevigny And More

The prognosis for Dr. Richard Miller's career is not looking great.

Felicity Huffman will join the Season 2 cast of Doc, Fox announced Tuesday. The Emmy winner will play Dr. Joan Ridley, Amy's medical school professor and an early mentor in her career. Ridley also is the new chief of internal medicine at Westside Hospital.

Doc showrunner Barbie Kilgman recently told TVLine that Richard's anti-Amy antics, which came to light in the Season 1 finale, "could very much prevent him from working at West Side Hospital." That said, "I don't think this is the last we've seen of him, no."

Huffman's long TV career includes roles on Desperate Housewives (for which she won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy), American Crime, Criminal Minds: Evolution, When They See Us and Sports Night. She spent a significant time in the news in 2019 for her involvement in a scheme in which she paid $15,000 to have her daughter's SAT scores falsified to get her into college. Huffman ultimately served an 11-day prison sentence, paid a $30,000 fine and participated in community service as punishment for her crimes.
