Casting News: Hacks Adds The Summer I Turned Pretty Star, Grey's Promotion And More

Hacks is adding more young people for Deborah Vance to scoff at: Christopher Briney, who broke out as Conrad on The Summer I Turned Pretty, is joining the Season 5 cast of HBO Max's Emmy-winning comedy, TVLine has learned.

No details on who Briney is playing have been announced, but HBO Max did release a sneak peek photo from Season 5, with Briney's character looking awfully chummy with Jean Smart's Deborah. Looks like he's maybe playing a fashion designer? Or a Harry Styles-esque pop star? (Feel free to speculate in the comments!)

Briney is best known for his role as Conrad in Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty, the Jenny Han adaptation centered around a love triangle involving Conrad, his childhood best friend Belly (played by Lola Tung) and his brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). In the third and final season, which wrapped in September, Belly was set to marry Jeremiah, but it was actually Conrad who ended up with her, after he followed Belly to Europe to profess his love in the finale. (Check out our recap for more.) A Summer I Turned Pretty movie, which will build upon the finale's events, has been set at Prime Video.

Hacks was renewed for Season 5 in May, and star Hannah Einbinder has said it'll be the final season, though HBO Max has yet to officially announce that.
