James Van Der Beek will guest star in an upcoming episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, TVGuide.com reports.

The actor — who plays an exaggerated version of himself in ABC's new comedy Don't Trust the B—- In Apartment 23 — will portray a former friend of a doctor who's sabotaging him. The hour, titled "Father Dearest," will air May 9 on NBC.
In other casting news, 24 vet Sarah Clarke has landed a recurring role as Annie's new mentor on Season 3 of USA Network's Covert Affairs, per TVGuide.com.
Clarke, who appears on Nikita, replaces Hung actress Rebecca Creskoff, who was originally tapped for the role but had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict. Clarke will now play Lena Smith, a legendary CIA operative who runs her own division and may be more than she appears.
