Casting News: Mr. Darcy And Carrie Contenders, And More

It is a truth universally acknowledged that many actors must be in want of the role of Mr. Darcy in Netflix's forthcoming Pride and Prejudice series — but only Jack Lowden may get the part.

The Slow Horses vet is in talks to play the male romantic lead in the Jane Austen adaptation, written by Everything I Know About Love author Dolly Alderton, our sister site Variety reports.

Lowden would follow in the footsteps of Matthew Macfadyen, Colin Firth, David Rintoul, Peter Cushing and Laurence Olivier, who have all portrayed the iconic literary character Mr. Darcy.
