SNL Shocker: Ego Nwodim Exits Ahead Of Season 51
Saturday Night Live viewers have seen the last of Lisa from Temecula.
Ego Nwodim is leaving SNL ahead of Season 51, TVLine has confirmed. In a statement shared on Instagram, she wrote: "The hardest part of a great party is knowing when to say goodnight. But after seven unforgettable seasons, I have decided to leave SNL. I am immensely grateful to Lorne [Michaels] for the opportunity, to my castmates, the writers, and the crew for their brilliance, support, and friendship.
"Week after week on that stage taught me more than I could have ever imagined, and I will carry those memories, and that laughter, with me always," her statement continues. "Now, invite me to your weddings please!!!"
Nwodim is the fifth SNL cast departure in recent weeks — and the second most veteran repertory player to depart the sketch series (following Heidi Gardner, who is leaving after eight seasons).
Michael Longfellow, Emil Wakim and Devon Walker are also out ahead of Season 51.
Nwodim first joined SNL in Season 44, as a featured player, and was elevated to repertory status ahead of Season 46.
With five exits and five new featured players, the SNL cast will continue to consist of 17 members total.
Deadline was first to report Nwodim's departure. Are you sad to see "Miss Eggy" go?
