Scott Speedman's RJ Decker Series Greenlit At ABC — What Does This Mean For Grey's Anatomy?
ABC officially has RJ Decker on deck.
The drama starring Scott Speedman (Felicity, Animal Kingdom) has been ordered to series at ABC, TVLine has confirmed. See a first photo of Speedman in character above.
The series is an adaptation of Carl Hiaasen's Double Whammy novel. It centers on RJ Decker, a disgraced newspaper photographer/ex-con who "starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida, tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre, with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife and a shadowy new benefactor — a woman from his past who could be his greatest ally... or his one-way ticket back to prison," according to the official logline.
RJ Decker (the show's working title) is slated to premiere sometime during the 2025-26 TV season. The cast also includes Adelaide Clemens (Under the Banner of Heaven) as Decker's ex, Catherine Delacroix; Kevin Rankin (Justified) as Aloysius, Decker's former cellmate; and Bevin Bru (Batwoman) as Melody Romero, a Fort Lauderdale Police Department detective who is married to Catherine.
Per Deadline, Speedman's role as Grey's Anatomy's Nick Marsh is not expected to be affected; the plan is for Speedman to continue to recur on the long-running medical drama.
RJ Decker hails from Elementary creator Rob Doherty. Paul McGuigan, who directed the first episodes of Scandal and Will Trent, helmed the pilot. He'll executive-produce alongside Doherty, Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman and Hiaasen.
