Casting News: Zach Galifianakis Is FX's Young Frankenstein, Chenoweth Joins NBC's Church Choir And More

FX has ordered a pilot for its TV adaptation of the Mel Brooks comedy classic Young Frankenstein, according to Variety, with Zach Galifianakis set to star. There's no official word on who he's playing, but he's believed to be playing Dr. Frankenstein.
The comedy, titled Very Young Frankenstein, will also feature Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Dolly Wells (And Just Like That...) and Cary Elwes (Stranger Things) in undisclosed supporting roles, along with Spencer House (Tell Me Lies) and Nikki Crawford (Cruel Intentions). Brooks will serve as an executive producer, along with What We Do in the Shadows veterans Taika Waititi, Garrett Basch and Stefani Robinson, with Robinson set to serve as writer and showrunner.
In other casting news...
* Kristin Chenoweth (Schmigadoon!) will star in a multi-cam comedy in the works at NBC, per Deadline, playing a woman who's ordered to serve as the director of a local church choir as part of her community service. Alissa Neubauer (Mom) will pen the pilot.
* Nicole Beharie (The Morning Show) will star alongside Ṣọpẹ́ Dìrísù and John Douglas Thompson in the Netflix thriller All the Sinners Bleed, about a Black sheriff in a small Bible Belt county hunting for a serial killer, Deadline reports. Beharie will play Darlene, the sheriff's supportive girlfriend.
