Brooklyn Nine-Nine's 10 Best Cold Opens, Ranked — Which Comes In At No. 1?
In honor of Brooklyn Nine-Nine's 10th anniversary (on Sept. 17), TVLine is counting down the 10 best cold opens from the cop comedy's eight-season run.
Trust us: Limiting ourselves to 10 (out of 153) cold opens was no easy feat, but we were determined to keep our list "noice" and "toit" — just like Boyle's ranking of Brooklyn's best pizza. Regretfully, we couldn't rank them according to mouth feel, so we went ahead and ranked them based on how happy they made us upon rewatch.
Here are a few interesting stats before we drill down and do this thing (drill down and do this thing... title of your sex tape!):
🚨 All 10 cold opens hail from Seasons 1-5. Not a single NBC-era cold open made the cut.
🚨 Our picks include four cold opens from Season 5 (aka the best season of B99, don't @ us), three cold opens from Season 4, and one cold open from Seasons 1, 2 and 3.
🚨 Our picks lean heavily on Captain Holt, reinforcing Andre Braugher's status as a national treasure.
🚨 It took us all of three seconds to decide on our No. 1 pick. Once you see it, we're sure you'll agree that there was no alternative.
So, what are you waiting for? Watch our countdown above, then hit the comments and tell us if you agree with our ranking. Did all your favorite cold opens make the cut? If not, which do you think are missing? (Links are welcome!)
