Evil Lets Its Supernatural Freak Flag Fly In Season 4 — 2024 FIRST LOOK (Exclusive)

Paramount+'s spooky drama won't return until early 2024, but as part of TVLine's #2024FirstLook, we've got a special sneak peek at what David, Kristen, Ben & Co. are up to in the coming season. First item of business? Letting things get deliciously weird. (Well, weirder.)
Exhibit A: Whatever the heck is going on in the confessional photo below.
It's been a while since we last saw Dr. Bouchard, Father David and Ben the Magnificent, so here's a quick refresh. Season 3 ended with Kristen reeling from the revelation that Leland had stolen her ovum and — through nefarious means best left vague — had used it to impregnate a woman who was now carrying his child. "We're gonna be parents," he said, locking eyes with a horrified Kristen in the Season 3 finale. (Read a full recap here.)
"The show is best when it plays a psychological reality and the supernatural reality, and I think they're almost flips of the same coin, you know?" series co-creator/executive producer Robert King told TVLine after the finale aired. And about whether the demon baby that's been popping up in Kristen's dreams is a portent of things to come? "So, on one hand, the psychological reality of this perversion of having Leland's sperm and Kristen's egg is psychologically that awful," he said. "But also, if you were to see it in a supernatural way, that [demon baby] would be what you would see."
Which is great and all, but it doesn't help us figure out why the new season will find Kristen handling red undies, or why Sister Andrea will be ready to battle a church pew to the death (as you can see in the photos above). The Lord works in mysterious ways, we guess?
