Supernatural: The Best Moments From Season 12, Episode 2

This is so not how I expected the episode to start! Props to Lady Toni for her unconventional interrogation technique. "Isn't this much more pleasant, Sam?" she asks. Yes, yes it is.

Because when you need advice about how to relate to your mother, who just got resurrected by God's sister after being dead for 33 years (#SupernaturalProblems), who better to call than the angel with so-so people skills? Cas' words of wisdom to Dean: "Don't make things needlessly complicated, as you humans tend to do."

Rowena's on a date! I bet she didn't put her real age on her dating profile.

Dean explains to a surprised Mary that Sam once got out of the hunter business, but found his way back, because "the only thing we had in this world, aside from this car, was each other." Awww.

Well, this is sufficiently horrific. (That's Lucifer's new vessel underneath all that blood.)

Dean and Mary's issues are nothing compared to the dsynfuctional Rowena and Crowley, who blackmails his mother into helping him find Lucifer. That's easier said than done. "It's witchcraft, not Google Maps," she points out.

Because it's important: This is Sam's face when he sees Dean and realizes his brother is alive.

Man, the show is going all in on horror imagery in this episode.

In case you thought death had dulled her skills, Dean and Sam's mom proves she's still a badass, coming to her boys' rescue. Mary orders Lady Toni to get on the ground. When she hesitates, Mary clocks her and declares, "That's the ground."

Mary wonders if Dean still likes pie. Um, just a little.

Sam finally gets his own bonding moment with his mom, during which he gives her John's journal in the hopes that it will help fill in the blanks. "This is my family. My family hunts. It's what we do," he explains of his choice to be a hunter. Then he adds, "For me, having you here, it fills in the biggest blank." Raise your hand if you're destroyed.

The Winchesters' next threat is... James Bond! Kidding, but whoever the British Men of Letters have called upon, he is packing a suitcase full of weapons. Uh oh.
