Emmys 2016: Best And Worst Moments

It looks like the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is seeking a new social media intern! Surely the person who sent out this tweet — in which Empire's Terrence Howard is confused with The People v. O.J. Simpson's Cuba Gooding Jr. — has since been fired, right?

Marcia, Marcia, Marcia, indeed! Sarah Paulson — who portrayed Marcia Clark in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story — brought the real-life prosecutor as her Emmys date. "This must be very strange for you, right? Are you rooting for O.J. to win this time?" host Jimmy Kimmel teased, and we were glad to see a smile break out across Clark's face.

Alan Yang, who with Aziz Ansari won Outstanding Writing for a Comedy for Master of None's "Parents," had some sage advice for Asian parents: "Just a couple of you, give your kids cameras instead of violins, and we'll be all good."

While Yang and Ansari took the stage to accept their Emmy, fellow contenders and Catastrophe co-stars Rob Delaney and Sharon Horgan (pictured top-left) shared an oh-well! hug.

Fellow SNL ladies Tina Fey and Amy Poehler watched, rapt, as Kate McKinnon accepted her Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series Emmy.

Veep's Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who took home yet another Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy trophy, joked about Donald Trump but got choked up when talking about her father, who had died days before the broadcast. She said she was glad he liked her HBO series, "because his opinion was the one that really mattered."

We loved when Transparent lead Jeffrey Tambor, who took home Lead Actor in a Comedy, shushed the orchestra in Hebrew — "Sheket bevaka!" — as it started to play him off. Now if you'll excuse us, we've got to go give our bubbe a call. She worries.

Superstore's America Ferrera and This Is Us' Mandy Moore joked that reality TV would pave the way for political nominees like "Tim Gunn 2020." We'd be down with that, if for no other reason than we could do far worse than a candidate whose defining tag line is "Make it work."

Noting that most of the celebs in attendance "haven't eaten since Labor Day," Kimmel enlisted his momma to whip up PB&J sandwiches for the crowd, which were hand-delivered by the precocious kids of Netflix's Stranger Things. Millie Bobby Brown even biked in wearing Eleven's blonde wig — but unfortunately for her, those paper sacks didn't include any Eggos.

"I was sort of a polygamist during this whole thing. I have three sister wives, Big Love-style," Sterling K. Brown noted during his acceptance of the Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie Emmy, giving thanks for co-star "Sarah Catharine Paulson," his agent and his real-life wife, Ryan Michelle Bathe.

Veep showrunner David Mandel began his acceptance speech for Outstanding Comedy Series by trying to get out of a volunteering commitment at his son's school library the next morning — and he only got more refreshingly honest as he went on. From pulling his valet parking ticket out of his pocket instead of his speech, to haphazardly asking the cast and crew if he forgot to thank anybody, Mandel gave us a firsthand glimpse at the reason why Veep's fifth season, even under new leadership, was its strongest yet.
