CMA Awards 2017: The Best And Worst Moments

CMA-Awards-2017-mcgraw-hill-paisley-underwood

BEST: ALL IN GOOD FUN

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill crashed Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood's opening monologue to roast/congratulate the duo on hosting the awards show for 10 years in a row.

CMA-Awards-2017-rucker-hold-my-hand

BEST: CHILDREN OF THE '90S SINGALONG

When Lady Antebellum and just about everyone else joined Darius Rucker in crooning the Hootie & the Blowfish hit "Hold My Hand," you know you did, too.

CMA Awards 2017 Taylor Swift

WORST: LITTLE BIG TOWN MISSES AN OPPORTUNITY

While accepting Song of the Year (which goes to the songwriter) on behalf of Taylor Swift, who penned their hit "Better Man," Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild lamented that Swift couldn't be there... but neglected to tack on "Why? Oh, because she's dead!" (It's like she hasn't even seen the "Look What You Made Me Do" video.)

CMA-Awards-2017-reba-kelsea

BEST: YAS KWEENS

Reba McEntire and Kelsea Ballerini's duet was on point, from the harmonies to the hairdos.

LADY ANTEBELLUM

BEST: BORN TO ROCK

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott, pregnant with twins, rocked out (in heels!) with her bandmates.

ERIC CHURCH

BEST: ERIC CHURCH'S REVERENT OPENING

There's a reason "Amazing Grace" is so often the pick for this type of thing.

cma-awards-2017-old-dominion

WORST: BLEEP FAIL

Whoever was in charge of censoring "s–t" out of Old Dominion's "No Such Thing as a Broken Heart" performance fell asleep on the job — the bleep came seconds after lead singer Matthew Ramsey sang the swear.

cma-awards-2017-faith-tim-performance

BEST ARGUMENT FOR WORKING WITH YOUR SPOUSE

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw's performance of "The Rest of Our Life" was as rock solid as Hill's super-toned thigh. Damn, mama!

cma-awards-2017-goat-yoga

WORST: GET YOUR GOAT

Can someone tell us what the point was of showing video of Underwood and Paisely engaged in goat yoga (which is totally a thing) in their dressing rooms?

cma-awards-2017-osborne-bros

BEST: BROTHERS OSBORNE GET IT MOVING

The group's high-energy rendition of "It Ain't My Fault" had everyone in the auditorium clapping and grooving along with them.

cma-awards-2017-pink

BEST: PINK PLAYS WITH DOLLS

Though it featured none of her sometime aerial acrobatics, pop star's ballad "Barbies" connected with the enthusiastic audience.

cma-awards-2017-jon-pardi-tux

BEST: JON PARDI'S TIME TO SHINE

The New Artist of the Year recipient wore a sequined tux that caught the spotlight as he accepted his accolades.

cma-awards-2017-osborn-bros-award

BEST: TRUTH IN ACCEPTANCE

While accepting the trophy for Vocal Duo of the Year, Brothers Osborne's T.J. Osborne kept it real: "I can say we've made a lot more money since we won a CMA Award," he said. (Don't worry — he went on to add that the real riches lie in friends and family, which he's had all along.)

cma-awards-2017-in-memoriam

BEST: HONORING THOSE WE'VE LOST

The In Memoriam segment ended by showing photos of those who died in October's mass shooting at a Las Vegas country-music festival.

cma-awards-2017-pickler

WORST: UM, WHAT?

Kellie Pickler and Ben Aaron held their microphones nowhere near their mouths, making it rather difficult to hear what they were saying whenever the broadcast tossed to them.
