Emmy Nominations 2018: Best Reactions

13. betty-gilpin-emmy-nomination-reaction

BEST: BETTY GILPIN

GLOW co-star Gilpin, who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, was quite literally floored by the news of her Emmy nod. In a tweet titled, "Mother. Of. God.," Gilpin wrote that she was in a state of "shock and denial paralysis on my living room floor" after getting word of the nomination, the announcement of which prompted her to "throw my phone across the room as if it was made of lava needles." Now that's a move we'd like to see in the GLOW ring.

BEST: BILLY EICHNER

Though American Horror Story: Cult did snag seven nominations, including acting nods for Sarah Paulson and Adina Porter, neither Eichner nor Leslie Grossman got any love for their work as Harrison and Meadow Wilton in the FX series — and Eichner noticed. In a tongue-in-cheek tweet, he captioned a photo of his and Grossman's characters with a single word — "SNUBBED" — after giving the AHS cast and crew that did get nominated some genuine recognition.

11. chrissy-teigen-john-legend-emmy-reaction

BEST: CHRISSY TEIGEN

Teigen was understandably stoked about husband John Legend's nomination for his work in Jesus Christ Superstar Live — even if his potential EGOT completion will overshadow some of her work. "My Spike TV award will probably be moved," Teigen wrote in a series of hysterical Emmy reaction tweets. "But it's OK, I AM SO PROUD!"

10. Hollywood Game Night - Season 5

WORST: JANE LYNCH

We love Lynch, and we know she's capable of hilarity, as evidenced by her Emmy nod for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program. But the enthusiasm she's got in the photo to the left didn't come through in her statement: "Hosting Hollywood Game Night has been the joy of a lifetime and to receive this Emmy nomination is lovely icing upon an already delicious cake." (Glee's Sue Sylvester would never accept something so generic.)

9. john-leguizamo-emmy-nomination-reaction

BEST: JOHN LEGUIZAMO

Leguizamo was recognized for his work in Waco via a nod in the Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie category... but it took him a while to realize it. The actor first tweeted that Waco had been robbed, then posted a second message 20 minutes later to amend his initial outrage.

8. lin-manuel-miranda-emmy-nomination-reaction

BEST: LIN-MANUEL MIRANDA

Hamilton creator and star Miranda, who appeared as a version of himself in the latest season of Curb Your Enthusiasm, earned a Guest Actor in a Comedy Series nomination — and he celebrated with a very appropriate social media post. "Pretty, pretty, pretty grateful," Miranda wrote as a nod to Curb's classic quote, followed by a GIF of his appearance on the HBO comedy.

7. patton-oswalt-emmy-nomination-reaction

BEST: PATTON OSWALT

Upon getting nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for his stand-up project Annihilation, Oswalt ribbed his fellow nominees in a response to Netflix's congratulatory tweet. "Haven't heard those other names, but thank you!" Oswalt jokingly wrote of Dave Chappelle, Jerry Seinfeld, John Mulaney, Steve Martin and Martin Short.

6. queer-eye-emmy-nomination-reaction

BEST: THE CAST OF QUEER EYE

Just about every Queer Eye episode makes us weep like small children, and the cast's reaction to the show's Structured Reality Program nomination is no exception. In a video shared on Twitter, the Fab Five shed some tears and give out endless bear hugs upon hearing the news. (Queer Eye groomer Jonathan Van Ness is particularly emotional, as his Game of Thrones-inspired web series Gay of Thrones also received a nod for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series.) In a word: Yas!

5. samantha-bee-emmy-nomination-reaction

BEST: SAMANTHA BEE

Little more than a month after Bee faced backlash for calling Ivanka Trump a "feckless c—t" on an episode of Full Frontal, the TBS series' star and executive producer is celebrating a nod for Outstanding Variety Talk Series. "It's been an interesting year for the show, to say the least, and none of it would have been possible without each person on my staff and each suit at TBS. (It's OK to say that — they're very nice suits!)," Bee said in a statement. "TBS bravely put a woman over 45 on TV, and in turn, I only got yelled at by the president once. We have some seriously special people on our staff, and hearing them go crazy in the office right now is just the medicine this world needs."

4. sandra-oh-emmy-nomination-reaction-constance-wu

BEST: CONSTANCE WU

Sandra Oh's nomination for Killing Eve on Thursday made her the first actress of Asian descent to ever be nominated in the Lead Actress in a Drama Series category in the Emmys' 70-year history — a milestone that did not go unnoticed on Twitter. "[Oh has] always been an idol to me," Fresh Off the Boat star Wu wrote, adding that she was inspired by the actress' work in the 1999 film Guinevere. "She's the real deal."

3. ted-danson-emmy-nomination-reaction

BEST: TED DANSON

Danson, who received a Lead Actor in a Comedy Series nod for his work in The Good Place, multitasked in his Emmy statement, finding a way to both celebrate the achievement and throw shade at fellow nominee Larry David (who was recognized for Curb Your Enthusiasm): "It's truly an honor to be nominated, and especially nice not to be the oldest person in the category. Thanks, Larry."

2. jesus-christ-superstar-live

WORST: ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER

On a related note, maybe Jesus Christ Superstar composer Andrew Lloyd Webber should have gotten frequent collaborator/lyricist Tim Rice to punch up his very generic kudos for the live musical's multiple nominations? "I am so proud of the cast and creative team behind Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert," Webber said in his statement. "We poured our hearts and souls into this production, and we are honored that the Television Academy has recognized the show. I am extremely moved that the show continues to touch audiences nearly 50 years after it was written."

1. rachel-bloom-emmy-nomination-reaction

BEST: RACHEL BLOOM

Though Crazy Ex-Girlfriend had scored a few Emmy nods in 2016 and 2017, the CW musical-comedy came up empty after Thursday's nominations were announced. In turn, series star and executive producer Bloom posted a "super chill" video reaction to the snub, in which she (jokingly!) gets her diva on, ruining the Crazy Ex production offices while she yells, "Why do we do any of this?!" (Can that be a song in Season 4? Please?)
