Game Of Thrones: Unanswered Questions After The Series Finale
game-of-thrones-jon-snow-dead-resurrected
Is Jon Snow really not experiencing any ill effects from his resurrection?
We're still a little baffled that the fact that Jon Snow was brought back from the dead seems to have fallen by the wayside. He was DEAD, people. But now, apparently, he's fine. As good as new, actually. Well, apart from a few lingering stab wounds — and all the death and carnage he's witnessed since. We expected his undead status to play some kind of role in the final season... but nope.
game-of-thrones-tycho-nestoris
What happens to Cersei's massive debt to the Iron Bank?
We know that Lannisters always pay their debts... but what if they're, you know, dead? Cersei took out a sizable loan from the Iron Bank to fund her hiring of the Golden Company — which turned out to be a total waste of money, by the way. But now that Cersei's gone, can Tycho and the Iron Bank still collect what's owed to them? Will they come after Tyrion now, since he's the next-of-kin? Are they insured against customers being wiped out by dragonfire?
game-of-thrones-tormund-brienne
Does Tormund have a shot with Brienne now?
We were sad to see Jaime Lannister meet his maker... but you know who wasn't? Good ol' Tormund, who now doesn't have any competition for the affections of big, beautiful Brienne of Tarth. Sure, she hasn't shown any signs of warming up to him yet, but we'd still like to see him try. (C'mon, the guy is a charmer!)
game-of-thrones-season-7-episode-5-gendry
Doesn't Gendry have a pretty solid claim to sit on the Iron Throne?
Remember, Gendry is the bastard son of King Robert Baratheon, who sat on the Iron Throne before his untimely death in Season 1. Daenerys knew Gendry was a threat and offered him a lordship to keep him in line, but now she's out of the picture. When the council was voting for the next king, why didn't Gendry throw his hat in the ring?
game-of-thrones-season-8-drogon
Will a mourning Drogon return to King's Landing to barbecue everyone?
When we last saw Dany's one remaining dragon, he was sadly flying off with his mother's lifeless body in tow. We know he's still out there — Sam mentioned he's been spotted — so what's to stop him from returning and exacting unholy vengeance on the people who killed his mom, flattening King's Landing and Castle Black with his fiery breath? (And hey, remember how Jaime slit the throat of Dany's dad Aerys so he wouldn't come back as a dragon? Could Dany herself return in dragon form?) We wouldn't sleep too soundly, if we were Jon.
best-worst-tv-2016-death-game-of-thrones-walder-frey
Why didn't Arya use her steal-people's-faces trick in the final season?
Arya spent a lot of time in Braavos honing her Faceless Man skills, disguising herself as the people she's killed. But even though she employed those skills to slit Walder Frey's throat, she didn't use them at all in the final season — even when they clearly could've been of use. Oh well, she can always break it out as a party trick.
game-of-thrones-ellaria-sand-2
Is Ellaria Sand still alive?
Last we saw the Mother of Sand Snakes, she was chained up in a dungeon by a sadistic Cersei, forced to watch her daughter Tyene slowly die after being poisoned. Since she was being held in the Red Keep, which Dany reduced to rubble, we can probably safely assume she died in the siege... but maybe she didn't!
game-of-thrones-ser-davos-seaworth
What does Ser Davos' wife even look like?
Yes, it's been a while since he mentioned her, but the Onion Knight does have a wife named Marya waiting at home for him — and we never met her! It would've been a sweet coda to Davos' story to see him reunite with his beloved wife after years of hard battle... if only so we could get a peek at her.
game-of-thrones-gilly-dead-season-8
Did Sam and Gilly have a boy or a girl?
One bit of good news we got in the final season: Sam and Gilly are having a baby! (And it's his this time!) We're glad that the pair escaped to safety before all hell broke loose in King's Landing, but we do still kind of want to know how their baby turned out. Is the kid a huge bookworm nerd like their dad?
game-of-thrones-ed-sheeran-eddie
Is Ed Sheeran still out there wandering around Westeros?
You might remember that the chart-topping singer had a cameo as soldier Eddie in the Season 7 premiere — and Bronn mentioned that the poor guy had his eyelids burnt off by Drogon (!) during the Loot Train raid. But he's still alive, we assume, and still singing, we hope. Maybe he and Podrick can team up and form a Simon and Garfunkel-type folk duo!
game-of-thrones-season-8-jon-snow-prince-that-was-promised
Did Jon Snow killing Daenerys make him the Prince That Was Promised?
One of the many prophecies that loomed over Westeros was "the Prince That Was Promised," a savior who would save the realm from impending darkness. Melisandre thought that was Stannis, but she was wrong. We thought it might be whoever killed the Night King, but Arya doesn't fit the description. But did Jon Snow's stabbing of Daenerys — and saving the Seven Kingdoms from her terrifying rule — make him the Prince That Was Promised? Or was the whole thing just another useless prediction from the often-wrong Melisandre?
game-of-thrones-season-8-arya-gendry
Will Arya and Gendry ever hook up again?
These two shared a steamy night together before the Battle of Winterfell — and hey, they both survived! Gendry went a little overboard and proposed marriage, which Arya firmly declined... but that doesn't mean they can't peel off each other's armor again sometime down the road, right?
game-of-thrones-daario-naharis-2
Whatever happened to Daario?
Remember this guy? Daenerys' boytoy in Meereen, before Jon Snow came along? Dany left him in charge in Meereen while she went to go claim the Iron Throne, but we never saw him again — and now she's dead. In hindsight, she probably would've been better off staying in bed with him, huh?
game-of-thrones-meera-reed-season-8
Why didn't Bran add Meera Reed to his small council?
Along with Hodor, Meera helped keep Bran alive during his many seasons on the run and safely delivered him to Winterfell — losing her brother Jojen in the process. But we haven't seen her since Bran gave her the cold shoulder last season. Since Bran owes her his life, couldn't he find a position for her in his kingdom? (And don't tell us he doesn't know where she is. He knows everything!)
game-of-thrones-bran-stark-king-iron-throne
Who becomes king when Bran dies?
Yes, Bran the Broken was selected to lead the Seven (well, Six) Kingdoms after the death of Daenerys, but as Sansa pointed out, he likely won't take a wife or have children. So who'd rule Westeros in his absence? Sansa? Arya? Do we have another small council vote? (We can't open it up to commoners, obviously. We might as well let dogs vote.)
