People's Choice Awards 2017: Best And Worst Moments

Joel McHale's Community co-star Jim Rash showed up for the ceremony-opening taped piece, in which McHale tried to prove how likable he is. "What's a Community?" McHale's young Great Outdoors co-stars asked. Sigh.

By the way, McHale's solution to the likability issue? Roll a whole bunch o' babies out on stage. That kid on the left in the back just wasn't having it.

In a silly bit, an unfamous guy named Dwayne Johnson and an actual rock were in the running for Favorite Dwayne Johnson. Spoiler alert: The rock won...

... leading Johnson to mouth "Bulls–t!" and causing whoever was in charge of the broadcast delay to keep his or her finger on the button...

... which was a good thing when Johnson, accepting the award for Favorite Premium Series Actor, got into a joke fight with Kevin Hart.

Sorry, Saturday Night Live alumni Molly Shannon and Fred Armisen: Kristen Wiig and Steven Carell did this bit better at the Golden Globes earlier this month. 

Westworld star Luke Hemsworth was a good sport when McHale repeatedly referred to him as "the third one" in regard to famous brothers Liam and Chris.

Former Gossip Girl Blake Lively's acceptance speech — for Favorite Dramatic Movie Actress for The Shallows — was a little daffy (the Spice Girls were heavily referenced) but had a good message for young women: "No one can limit you."

In a mid-show bit, McHale's Community bud Ken Jeong showed up as a "tabulator" of all the votes. It wasn't very funny, and it didn't get any better when McHale slapped a giant foam hat on the Dr. Ken star.

"She's the award-iest of award-y," Justin Timberlake in his introduction of 20-time (!) People's Choice Award winner Ellen DeGeneres, who soaked up admiration from Tyler Perry and wife Portia de Rossi (Scandal) before she took to the stage. 

We ask every year, but c'mon, People's Choice Awards: Whyyyy do you shoehorn so many awards, like Baby Daddy's Favorite Cable TV Comedy win, into the commercial breaks?

Sarah Jessica Parker's acceptance of the Favorite Premium Series Actress award for Divorce was as heartfelt as it was rambling. Yeah, we're still not quite sure what she was talking about.

The Good Place star Kristen Bell got temporarily thrown when her teleprompter went out, but she recovered admirably and continued reciting a list of Favorite Humanitarian Tyler Perry's good deeds.

The Mick star Kaitlin Olson made a bold assertion: that fellow presenter John Stamos (Fuller House) was a sexy Westworld host. "You don't age, you know? And you're built for pleasure," she noted. (She's got a point, no?)

And when Stamos said that his Fuller House co-star Bob Saget was actually a romance robot, Saget didn't miss an opportunity for a phallic sight gag. (This Is Us' Chris Sullivan, sitting a row behind, seemed to get a kick out of it.)

"Can I do a little wiggle?" a happy Priyanka Chopra said after taking home Favorite Dramatic TV Actress for her role in Quantico. "It's the concussion talking," she quickly clarified.
