Power Season 6: EP, Stars Offer Crucial Intel Ahead Of The 'Final Betrayal'

Power showrunner Courtney Kemp and stars Joseph Sikora, Naturi Naughton and La La Anthony talk about the Starz crime drama's final premiere. Will Tasha decide that enough's enough? Will certain characters who haven't been heard from in a while surface, and when will that happen? Will LaKeisha have second thoughts about her promise to stay by Tommy's side? Read on for their thoughts!

Don't Mess with Tasha

"Losing her daughter, Raina, was a turning point," Naturi Naughton says of her character, Ghost's long-suffering wife Tasha. She calls the teen's murder "a catalyst for [Tasha] to step outside of Ghost and start evaluating her life as a whole. Like,

'What the freak am I doing right now as a mother, as a woman as a wife?'" Those big questions will come to the fore in the season premiere — and the hour contains one line of dialogue, in particular, that made fans at the show's Madison Square Garden screening scream in outrage on Tasha's behalf.

Remember Them? Part 3

And what about Bailey Markham's laptop, which contains information that could take down pretty much everyone in Ghost's circle? "It's still floating," Kemp previews, "and it's going to drive some story this year. A lot of story, in fact, almost to the end of the season."

Remember Them? Part 2

Ditto for Dre, last seen entering protective custody: "Not too soon, but soon," Kemp repeats, smiling. "His reintroduction is so him in all the ways that are going to make you yell and scream."

A New Look for LaKeisha

Viewers will finally get to see LaKeisha's son, Cash (played by Denim Roberson), when he shows up in the season premiere. "I'm excited for people to see LaKeisha as a mom, because as a mom, you make very different decisions based on your child," Anthony says.

Remember Them? Part 1

When we ask Kemp for an idea of when Maria Suarez, aka the Federal witness who can identify James St. Patrick as Ghost, will show up? "Not too soon, but soon," the EP teases.

Tariq Trips Up

Though showrunner Courtney Kemp notes that Ghost and Tasha's son will make "some smart moves" in coming episodes, she also previews that "we'll see him make a ton of mistakes this season that have to do with the legacy of Kanan, the fact that his father is not honest with him, the fact that his godfather is somewhat estranged from him because of his estrangement with the father, and that his mom is distracted with a lot of things going on." Bottom line: Kemp says to keep an eye on the quiet teen: "Tariq becomes one of the most propulsive forces through the season."

Episodes You Can't Miss

"Episode 8 will blow your mind," Naughton previews. "Episode 10? Blow your mind. Episode 15? Your mind is completely shattered in little pieces."

Partner in Crime

Though they're shown here in unhappier times, at the end of Season 5, LaKeisha made a promise to stand by Tommy, and La La Anthony says she intends to keep it, come what may. The problem: Keisha has no idea what she's signed up for. "All she wants to do is prove to Tommy that she's ride-or-die, and she's in it until the end, but I don't think she really understands what that means until she's so far in that you've got to stay," the actress says, chuckling. "Love makes us all do crazy things, and she's no different."

Could Tommy Do It?

Tommy has had serious issues with Ghost in the past, but could he ever really kill his best friend... y'know, if a certain AUSA didn't ruin his shot? Joseph Sikora acknowledges his character's eternal, internal debate. "As much as you see him wanting to do it, there's always a yin to the yang, and that means he's equal parts wanting to do it and equal parts not wanting to do it," he tells TVLine. "Where is this tipping point? Because it's such a love and such a bond that we've established between these two men. I would argue it's the love story of the show."
