Paul Revere's Ride
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED | Revere, a silversmith, galloped through the countryside to warn anyone within earshot that the British were coming. His efforts allowed the American colonists to be ready when the Redcoats made their first attack.
HOW HOLLOW COULD TWIST HISTORY | Though Revere did, indeed, careen from Boston toward Lexington, Mass. in 1775, his frantic ride happened because he was chased by the (then-headed) Horseman, who'd caught him spying on some Hessians' nefarious activities. Revere shouted "The British are coming!" because "A freakishly large German mercenary with cloudy eyes and a scary brand on his hand is coming!" is a lot to cough up on the fly. In a flashback, we'll see Ichabod, supping in a local tavern, hear the famous cries as he polishes off his baked beans and cider.

The Shot Heard 'Round the World
WHAT REALLY HAPPENED | No one's sure which side fired the "shot heard 'round the world," but the opening salvo of the Revolutionary War took place at Lexington and Concord in 1775 and kicked off a conflict that would last years.
HOW HOLLOW COULD TWIST HISTORY | The reason no one knows who sounded the first shot is because no one – or rather – no human did. Late one night, while poring over some of Sheriff Corbin's mysterious secret documents, the two Witnesses will learn that the war for America's independence was actually started by Moloch (that guy has his hand in everything!), who needed epic bloodshed in order to fortify his evil realm.

The Battle of Bunker Hill
.WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED | Colonial forces occupied Breed's Hill (though the battle became known for an outcropping nearby) outside of Boston and held off the British for two days before retreating. The saying, "Don't fire until you see the whites of their eyes" is attributed to American Col. William Prescott, whose forces gave the Brits a shellacking despite running low on ammunition.
HOW HOLLOW COULD TWIST HISTORY | In a dream, Katrina will tell Ichabod that a crucial weapon in the war against the apocalypse was buried at the top of Bunker Hill just days before the battle. She'll relate how a coven of colonial-friendly witches then cast a spell that effectively cloaked the mound from sight -– and the armies' maps -– for years. So when the troops thought they were holding Bunker Hill, they were actually standing firm on Breed's.

The Signing of the Declaration of Independence
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED | Members of the Continental Congress, including Thomas Jefferson, Samuel Adams and John Hancock, signed a document declaring the 13 colonies' independence from Great Britain. (England's response: Thanks, but no thanks.)
HOW HOLLOW COULD TWIST HISTORY | While watching National Treasure on Abbie's couch during a rare moment of downtime in the fight against the apocalypse, Ichabod will casually remark, "A treasure map? How quaint." He will then expound on how one of America's founding documents is really a cipher that reveals all there is to know about... Oops! Abbie will get a call from the sheriff's department – the Horseman rides again! — and the pair will table the discussion for later.

The Crossing of the Delaware
WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED | On Christmas evening 1776, General George Washington led his frozen, weary troops across the Delaware River to take some Hessian forces by surprise at Trenton. Hundreds of prisoners were captured over the course of the battle, which went down as Washington's first big victory.
HOW HOLLOW COULD TWIST HISTORY | Yep, Crane was in Washington's boat, which had some witchy help to dodge the giant ice patches dotting the frigid river. But while most of the general's men were ambushing drunken Germans, Ichabod will relate to Abbie at a crucial moment in an investigation, he slipped away and had his first encounter with the Hessian who'd come to be known as the Horseman.
