The Voice Leaderboard: Who Has Momentum From The Season 3 Top 6? Take Our Poll!
The Voice - Season 3
6. Trevin Hunte
(Last week No. 8)
Choice of Whitney Houston's saccharine "The Greatest Love of All" — complete with Gospel choir — did nothing to dispel concerns about his commercial relevancy that cropped up after his disastrous attempt to go uptempo on Usher's "Scream." It's getting too late in the game for Cee Lo to find innovative ways to make use of Trevin's big ole voice.
Request List: Brandy's "Sittin' on Top of the World"
The Voice - Season 3
5. Terry McDermott
(Last week No. 6)
Another contestant whose raw talent hasn't fully blossomed thanks to peculiar song choices. "Maybe I'm Amazed," "Don't Stop Believing," "More Than a Feeling" and "Summer of '69" felt like diminishing returns on a the same old classic rock theme, while his Top 8 cover of coach Blake Shelton's "Over" exposed limitations in Terry's lower register.
Request List: We Are the Fallen's "Bury Me Alive"
The Voice - Season 3
4. Nicholas David
(Last week No. 5)
Affable hippie dude has been slowly but steadily growing his fan base with rock-solid renditions of soul classics by Bill Withers and Marvin Gaye. It's interesting, though, that when Nicholas had control during Knockout Rounds, he picked the more recent "Put Your Records On." Could he be at risk if he covers another Golden Oldie?
Request List: Erykah Badu's "Honey"
The Voice - Season 3
3. Cassadee Pope
(Last week No. 2)
Has really hit her stride the last two weeks a tender, emotional version of Miranda Lambert's "Over You" and a strong, acidic twist on "Are You Happy Now?" Still, for all the hype she's gotten from her coach and all the buzz she's built on iTunes, Cassadee has yet to have an explosive, breakout vocal moment. Needs a daring, unexpected song choice to help avoid a "peaked too soon" trajectory.
Request List: Whitesnake's "Here I Go Again"
The Voice - Season 3
2. Melanie Martinez
(Last week No. 4)
Teenage contestant's coach, Adam Levine, declared that she "Melanie-izes" everything she covers, and indeed, that's been the case on "Cough Syrup," "Seven Nation Army," and "Too Close." iTunes buyers have responded with enthusiasm, and Melanie seems to be stomping out the pitch problems that plagued her at the midway mark in the competition. She's still polarizing, with her two-tone hair, baby bow, and breathy tone, but she's certainly never predictable.
Request List: Moby's "We Are All Made of Stars"
The Voice - Season 3
1. Amanda Brown
(Last week No. 1)
Over the last six weeks, she's given a series of devastating vocal performances — "Dream On," "Stars," "Someone Like You," "Paris (Ooh La La)" and "Vision of Love" — that put Amanda on par with pretty much any contestant on any reality singing competition ever. The coaches still seem somewhat muted in their praise, but Amanda's pitch perfection, combined with daring song choices and arrangements and a well-honed lady-rocker point of view, make her the artist to beat in Season 3.
Request List: The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter"
