The Voice: Ranking The Coaches' Season 3 Teams Before The Live Shows Begin
The Voice - Season 3
Team Blake
5. Julio Cesar Castillo
Seems nice enough, but Blake's attachment to his totally average voice is a mystery worthy of Sue Grafton.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Blake
4. Cassadee Pope
Has gotten more hype than the iPhone 5, but her Knockout Round rendition of "Telephone" was surprisingly pitchy — and nowhere near as interesting as rival Suzanna Choffel's "Could You Be Loved." Former lead singer of Hey Monday is starting to feel like an unwelcome ringer.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Blake
3. Liz Davis
Very rarely hits a bad note, but her "Gunpowder & Lead" was a little too poised to be completely credible. Benefits from her spot as Season 3's sole country entry, but will need to tread carefully when it comes to song selection.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Blake
2. Michaela Paige
Showed good taste in choosing "Love is a Battlefield" for the Knockouts, then delivered it with undeniable passion. And with her giant Mohawk and penchant for tulle skirts, Michaela's got the most recognizable look of any Season 3 contestant. Nothin' wrong with that!
The Voice - Season 3
Team Blake
1. Terry McDermott
His rendition of "Maybe I'm Amazed" may not have strayed too far from Paul McCartney's template, but dang if it wasn't gorgeous. Scottish vet has a very special gift, but he needs to rethink his depressing mullet if he wants America to keep him around past Thanksgiving.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Adam
5. Loren Allred
Her big final note on "You Know I'm No Good" was a buzzy Knockout Round moment, but one note does not a contender make. This slot should've gone to "Vermont hippie" Nicole Nelson.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Adam
4. Melanie Martinez
Her cutesy, breathy delivery sets her apart from the field, but she may have peaked with her Audition Round cover of "Toxic."
The Voice - Season 3
Team Adam
3. Bryan Keith
Questionable choice of "(Everything I Do) I Do it For You" in the Knockouts, but his glory note was sublime, and he's got a certain sense of cool that should appeal to voters.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Adam
2. Joselyn Rivera
Seemed a bit ordinary during her time on Team Xtina, but her Knockout Round cover of Beyonce's brutally difficult "Love on Top" was jaw-droppingly flawless.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Adam
1. Amanda Brown
Outsang front-runner Trevin Hunte in the Battle Rounds (and was subsequently stolen from Cee Lo), then delivered a Knockout Round version of "Paris (Ooh La La)" that proved Adele's former background singer is a major threat for the Season 3 crown.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Xtina
5. Devyn Deloera
Keeps tackling XXL-sized songs with her medium-sized voice, and the strain really showed on Whitney's "I Have Nothing."
The Voice - Season 3
Team Xtina
4. Sylvia Yacoub
Looked like cannon fodder after her vocal bombastics backfired in the Battle Rounds, but followup rendition of the very tricky "Fighter" was actually quite solid.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Xtina
3. Dez Duron
Has a solid albeit unspectacular instrument, but his incredible hair and dreamy eyes seem likely to carry him through at least a week of voting, no?
The Voice - Season 3
Team Xtina
2. Adrianna Louise
Xtina gave her great advice, resulting in a fearsome Knockout Round performance of Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone." If she can quash her nerves — and her occasional pitch woes — Adrianna could be a real-world kind of contender.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Xtina
1. De'Borah
Upgraded The Fray's "You Found Me" with a honey-sweet glaze of soul and passion. Combined with her stellar Police cover in the Battle Rounds, she seems like a legit Top 5 threat.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Cee Lo
5. Diego Val
Nothing he's done to date — particularly his wobbly spin on "Are You Gonna Go My Way" — makes him look like a potential Season 3 winner.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Cee Lo
4. MacKenzie Bourg
Cleverly reinvented "Call Me Maybe" as a crackly acoustic jam, but he's definitely benefitted from easy matchups in the Knockout and Battle Rounds.
The Voice - Season 3
Team Cee Lo
3. Cody Belew
Arkansas-born soul man may not have the most powerful voice in the competition, but he's got charisma and showmanship — and an enviable stubble game — that have helped him conquer everything from Lady Gaga to Dolly Parton (and outlast one-time front-runner Avery Wilson in the Knockouts).
The Voice - Season 3
Team Cee Lo
2. Nicholas David
Grooviest hippie in the game sounded fantastic on "Put Your Records On." Now if he'd just put a little more emphasis on moustache maintenance...
The Voice - Season 3
Team Cee Lo
1. Trevin Hunte
His win over close friend Terisa Griffin was the emotional highlight of the Knockouts, and his soulful wail is tidal-wave massive. That said, Cee Lo will need to help him avoid going sharp on his runs — and steer him out of the Big Ballad Ghetto — if he's going to maintain his place near the head of the Season 3 pack.
