Vampire Diaries Stars, EPs On Their Favorite Scenes (Deaths! Dancing! Devastation!) So Far

Founder’s Day

Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert)
FAVORITE SCENE | "The moment when Katherine cuts off John Gilbert's fingers is my favorite. It was like, '[Gasps] She's doing what?! That's so disgusting! Oh my God, I can't wait to do it!' That's what I thought when I read it."
HITTING 100 | "It's like, 'Oh my God, we did 100 episodes. Basically, like 50 movies.' It is a milestone. It's a big accomplishment that not many shows can say that they have reached. It's very exciting. It puts things into perspective. It makes you realize how lucky we are. It's great to be part of a great show that people actually watch and enjoy and can say that's done this many episodes and is still going. We still, hopefully, have another season in us at least... But I feel like we started yesterday. But it's been five years, which is scary. Way to talk about putting things into perspective — life and time and how fast it passes. It really does pass faster as you get older. My mom was right. [Laughs]"

Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore)
FAVORITE SCENE | "My favorite scene is from the fifth episode of Season 1, when Vicki and Damon are dancing in the Salvatore mansion and sucking blood out of each other. And also, Kayla Ewell in her underwear for a week was not the worst thing that's ever happened, because she's profoundly beautiful and talented and really giving. We just gave a lot. It was so much fun. I think that's when Damon was at his best. He was just having such a great time. I always remember that scene as being really memorable and fun."
HITTING 100 | "I've never been on anything this long, and wow, man. I remember — Zach Roerig brought this up — he said when we first got this, I said, 'Get ready for the ride of your life,' and it's been exactly that."

Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore)
FAVORITE SCENE | "When I made that guy drink his wife's blood in the 1920s Ripper flashback."
HITTING 100 | "I haven't passed out yet from 100 episodes, so that's impressive. Not to be anticlimactic, but if you didn't tell me it was 100 episodes, I really wouldn't know. We're just sort of going at it. But I guess it's a pretty big deal. It's rare for shows to reach that. But to me it feels like, I don't know. We're still in it. It's hard to sit back and go, 'Ah, 100 episodes.'"

Candice Accola (Caroline Forbes)
FAVORITE SCENE | "The pilot is still my favorite for sentimental reasons. Personally, the [scene] that I was in that I really loved was when Caroline sang, 'None of the boys ever pick me!' It was my audition scene. It was a big moment."
HITTING 100 | "This has been my first television series that I've ever worked on, and the fact that I've been fortunate enough to be part of a series that goes to 100 episodes — because a lot don't — that is an accomplishment for us all... It's been interesting, especially because we've all seen each other at 6 in the morning when we're waking up or 6 am when we're going to bed. We all know each other's annoyances, we know how to bug each other, we know what someone will be bugged by, what someone won't be bugged by. We know what each other eats, what each other likes, don't like... It's a very interesting, special friendship. I like to call it the traveling circus that doesn't travel. And it's a fun family to be part of."

Friday Night Bites

Kat Graham (Bonnie Bennett)
HITTING 100 | "I didn't think I was going to make it past the pilot. I thought I would have been recast or something. I had shot five pilots before The Vampire Diaries and not one of them got picked up. So a 100th episode is, like, not real to me. It's a beautiful, humbling experience, but I still can't believe I've been on it this long. It's great. "

Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood)
FAVORITE SCENE | "The first werewolf transformation, because there was a lot of work that went into that. I'm proud of that work. Even though it's happened more times, that was the start of Tyler on his journey, being a werewolf and a hybrid and being sired. That was exciting."
HITTING 100 | "I was just trying to get to the end of Season 1, keep my job and not die... I've never been a part of a project that has lasted and been successful in its own world for this long. It's really crazy... It's a crazy little milestone. This little — I say 'little,' but it's subjective — supernatural show about werewolves and vampires and witches made it to 100 episodes and can be on the same playing field as some other big shows on other networks or cable networks that reach 100 episodes. It's very nice."

Do Not Go Gentle

Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan)
FAVORITE SCENE | "The ones where the whole cast is together... For example, when we were saying goodbye to Alaric in the woods. It was a very emotional day."
HITTING 100 | "The evolution of this show has taken the viewers and the characters to places I never imagined. The 100th episode for me is bringing around some really amazing memories from my life."

I Know What You Did Last Summer

Steven R. McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert)
HITTING 100 | "Jeremy's died so many times, I'm glad I'm just making it to the 100th episode. There's a part last season where I ended up dying. They told me I was coming back, but there wasn't ever any written guarantee or anything, so I was like, 'Oh, I'm back this season.' I've been very stoked and excited about that."

Julie Plec (Executive Producer)
FAVORITE SCENE | "There's so many. Wickedly, I love when Damon broke Jeremy's neck, even though that was a horrible, horrible thing to do and he should be punished. I love all our deaths. I love crying when I watch TV, and I love making people cry. As much as it hurts my heart to watch it and to write it, I love the loss of Vicki and the tragic death of Aunt Jenna and saying goodbye to Alaric."

Graduation

Caroline Dries (Executive Producer)
FAVORITE SCENE | "I have a million favorite ones... So far from what we've seen, when Klaus decapitated a witch with his motarboard at graduation. What a great arrival."

Daniel Gillies (Elijah Mikaelson)
FAVORITE SCENE | "There was a scene that got cut between Elena and I. She'd done something that depicted humanity in a certain way, and I said to her, 'I just adore this,' and she said, 'Why?' And I said, 'Sometimes you remind me of how beautiful humanity can be.'"

vampire-diaries-favorite-scenes (3)

Matt Davis (Alaric J. Saltzman)
FAVORITE SCENE | "My favorite scenes are ultimately from Season 1 and the end of Season 3. I bookend myself with Damon. Those are my favorite moments."

vampire-diaries-favorite-scenes (12)

Claire Holt (Rebekah Mikaelson)
FAVORITE SCENE | "My favorite episode was Episode 3, Season 3, the first episode I ever did, the 1920s flashback. It was so awesome, and I got to do all that. I got to dress up in the era. I got to be introduced to all the characters in the show. It was so awesome and epic. It set up what would be an amazing journey in my life for the next three years."

Sara Canning (Aunt Jenna)
FAVORITE SCENE | "I really loved shooting the second episode because we'd all just moved to Atlanta... I had some great scenes with Steven [R. McQueen]. I just remember that episode being a complete blast. I just was so happy to be here."
