The Four Seasons' Tina Fey And Will Forte Talk Playing Husband And Wife, Recall Their SNL Days — Watch Video
Two decades after they shared the stage on Saturday Night Live, Tina Fey and Will Forte are playing maybe their most unexpected on-screen role: husband and wife.
Fey and Forte co-star as married couple Kate and Jack in the Netflix comedy The Four Seasons (premiering next Thursday, May 1 on the streamer), which follows three couples as they travel together on picturesque getaways — and get thrown for a loop when one of the couples suddenly splits up. Since Fey and Forte had history on SNL, TVLine asks them in the video above if they thought they had "a raw sexual chemistry" back then... which draws a chortle from Fey. "We had a microwaved sexual chemistry," she quips.
"I think we're just at ease with each other because we've known each other a long time," Fey adds, "and that's what people who are married a long time are like. It's not the beginning of the book. It's the middle of the book." Forte notes that he also spent time on SNL with Fey's real-life husband Jeff Richmond — who directs an episode of The Four Seasons that includes "a romantic scene" between Fey and Forte. Well, that wasn't awkward at all, we're sure.
Fey and Forte work together on screen as a couple "because they're so comfortable with each other," executive producer Lang Fisher points out. "I think they both really trust each other." Plus, their differing energies mesh perfectly with Kate and Jack's dynamic, says EP Tracey Wigfield: "Jack is such a little sweetheart, but he's also needy," while Kate "can take care of herself, and she takes care of everybody else around her, and she's a little sharper than he is. And I think that kind of difference between them felt like a fun dynamic, and a real marriage to us."
