Daytime Emmys: Y&R And GH Lead Soap Opera Noms; Ellen Snubbed
Nominations for the 49th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced on Thursday, and CBS' Young and the Restless led the soap opera pack with 18 total nods. [pmc_inline_gallery]
ABC's General Hospital was close behind with 17 nominations, followed by NBC's Days of Our Lives (with 11 nods) and CBS' The Bold and the Beautiful (with eight nods). Peacock's Days spinoff Beyond Salem received three nods for its inaugural run, including one for Outstanding Drama Series (where it will face-off against the mothership).
Also of note: For the first time in its history, The Ellen Degeneres Show — which will conclude its 19-season run later this month — is not up for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show.
The in-person ceremony is set to take place at the Pasadena Civic Center in Pasadena, Calif., and will be broadcast live Friday, June 24 at 9/8c on CBS (and streaming on Paramount+).
