Joss Whedon Shows Ranked

angel

3. ANGEL

Marked by Whedon's trademark wit and heart, his Buffy spinoff proved that David Boreanaz could carry a series, made a geek It girl of Amy Acker and gave us the Angel/Darla/Drusilla family reunion that we hadn't even realized we needed. The WB all but staked itself by cancelling the series in 2004.

buffy-the-vampire-slayer

1. BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER

The supernaturally smart WB/UPN series that united Sunnydale's Scooby Gang, brought together (and tore apart) Buffy and Angel and staved off more apocalypses than we can count made Watchers of us all. So how in the Hellmouth could Whedon's first series be anything but our Chosen One for the top slot?

dollhouse

5. DOLLHOUSE

It's a testament to not only Whedon's intriguing premise for this short-lived sci-fi drama but also to the auteur's highly vocal fan base that Fox renewed his second ratings-challenged Eliza Dushku vehicle for a sophomore season.

firefly

2. FIREFLY

Never underestimate the power of tight pants. Whedon's space western lasted only 14 episodes on Fox but developed such a passionate cult following that it was given the big-screen treatment three years after its premature death (via Serenity) and written into Sheldon and Leonard's roommate agreement on The Big Bang Theory.

marvels-agents-of-shield

4. MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.

Though an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Avengers director's ABC offshoot has had trouble establishing its identity as a show about heroes that aren't, you know, super. And its ratings have become as anemic as a young Steve Rogers.
