TVLine Readers' 2023 Wish List For SEAL Team, Bridgerton, 9-1-1, Witcher, Succession, #OneChicago And More
Somewhere in Santa's gift sack, tucked among the toys and games, TVLine readers hope to find a seventh SEAL Team season, the return of a certain Chicago Med doc, Scott Bakula's appearance on the new Quantum Leap and a fitting send-off for Nancy Drew, among other 2023 gifts.
Those are just some of the items on your TV wish lists for 2023, which you shared with us earlier this month. And though we can't make any promises about which wishes might be granted in the new year — if any! — we're eager to share 20 of your small-screen requests in the list below.
After sorting through your wishes, one thing is clear: You're hoping that several TV pairings will start to feel the love in 2023, including Abbott Elementary's Gregory and Janine and Law & Order: SVU's Benson and Stabler. (The latter couple also made last year's wish list, but we sense they'll be an annual fixture until their romance is official.)
But where some of you want developments to begin in 2023, others are ready for conclusions: Might it be time for The Goldbergs to wrap up? Should 9-1-1 wind down a particular storyline soon? And how much longer can Chicago P.D. leave Burgess and Ruzek's relationship in limbo? (Note: Submissions have been edited for content and clarity.)
Scroll through the list below to see what your fellow TVLine readers are wishing for in 2023, then drop a comment with your own hopes for the new year. Happy holidays!
Stephen's Wish:
"It would be wonderful if Scott Bakula could appear on the new Quantum Leap series to conclude his story." (Perhaps in Season 2?)
Laura's Wish:
"It's been just over a year since The Roku Channel came out with Zoey's Extraordinary Christmas, and I'm still wishing for more TV movie installments in the Zoey's universe! Valentine's Day? Vacation? Wedding? Halloween? I'll take Zoey's Extraordinary anything as long as it means more of these characters and their heart songs!"
Callie's Wish:
"That Buck's sperm donor storyline [on 9-1-1] doesn't end in tragedy or misery — and that it ends sooner rather than later. I'd love to see Buck recognize the family that he already has and how much happiness they bring to each other."
Paul's Wish:
"At the risk of sounding greedy, I wish for more greatness from Disney+'s Star Wars franchise. Andor was truly spectacular."
Nat's Wish:
"That Nancy Drew has a fantastic final season full of closure and, of course, lots of 'Nace' for my poor, sad 'shipper heart. Fingers crossed."
Margaret's Wish:
"Just resolve Burgess and Ruzek once and for all [on Chicago P.D.]. 'Will they or won't they' has a time limit."
Maria's Wish:
"For Hetty to reunite with her team in time for Callen's wedding [on NCIS: Los Angeles]. She is the closest to a mom he has ever had, and she deserves to be there."
Amanda's Wish:
"I'm not sure if Rings of Power is going to air in 2023 or 2024, but would love to see more between Galadriel and Halbrand. I never thought I'd be 'shipping these two, being a Lord of the Rings fan for most of my life, but the way this show did it and the actors' chemistry has made me a 'Haladriel' 'shipper. I can't wait to see Season 2 and what's next." (We're with ya, Amanda!)
Leslie's Wish:
"That Colin Donnell returns to Chicago Med!" (Not out of the question!)
Claire's Wish:
"They better get Gregory and Janine together (and not just briefly) by the end of Abbott Elementary Season 2! How many less-than-stellar partners do each of them need to go through?!"
Karen's Wish:
"I legitimately only want one thing from the TV Santa: Season 7 renewal news for SEAL Team. That's not too much to ask, is it?"
Avery's Wish:
"I don't care if they're fighting, scheming, having NSFW 'conference calls' and/or all of the above (possibly even at once). I just want for Roman and Gerri's scenes in Season 4 of Succession to cause as much chaos as possible, both within the narrative of the show and for all of the fans rooting for this dysfunctional (yet oddly sweet and, as of the Season 3 finale, heartbreaking) relationship. That will serve our interests!"
Melissa's Wish:
"That Let the Right One In is renewed by Showtime. It is a great show with an excellent cast, especially Demián Bichir and Madison Taylor Baez... The storyline has expanded in an intriguing way from the original movie(s), and the season finale had a fascinating and surprising twist at the end that really left me wanting to see more."
Felix's Wish:
"I know this may sound like advocating for the end of something, but my wish for 2023 is that we get confirmation that the current season of The Goldbergs is the final one. And that the show goes out without a polarizing series finale and ends on a happy note that pleases even non-fans of the show."
Stephanie's Wish:
"That the powers that be would turn on a light or two. We can't see anything!"
Meganne's Wish:
"For Henry Cavill's exit on The Witcher to make sense and not be just a 'You look different and we're never going to talk about it' recast."
Bailey's Wish:
"For Station 19 to start Maya on a journey of mental and physical health recovery. Her downfall started in last season's final episode when she threatened to report Chief Ross and Sullivan's relationship. Now the first half of Season 6 has shown Maya's downward spiral taking her down in all aspects of her life... My wish for the rest of the season is for Maya to start therapy to work on her 'eyes forward' fixation regarding her position at work, and also to work on her health and her marriage."
Josh's Wish:
"A renewal for Kung Fu. As much as I enjoy Tyler [Hoechlin], Bitsie [Tulloch] and everyone at Superman & Lois, which I also hope is renewed, we will see more stories with Clark/Kal-El somewhere. Mostly Asian casts, on the other hand, are far too rare. I don't care if it's on The CW or moved elsewhere, but I want this show back!"
Rebecca's Wish:
"To see Sophie Beckett, aka the love of Benedict Bridgerton's life, get introduced in Season 3 of Bridgerton! It's bad enough they skipped Benedict's season. The least they could do is introduce the mysterious Lady in Silver to the show for Benedict to meet and look for until his season!"
Jordan's Wish:
"For Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson to kiss on Law & Order: SVU."
