2021 In Review: The 17 Sexiest Scenes

Who needs hot cocoa when you've got TVLine's list of the sexiest scenes of the year to keep you warm this holiday season?

Our annual roundup of hot-and-bothered moments, as always, features several steamy hookups from shows such as Sex Education, Good Girls, Dickinson and Elite. Meanwhile, Chicago Fire, Riverdale and New Amsterdam gifted 'shippers with long-awaited first times together that got hearts racing after several seasons of sexual tension. Plus, a certain 9-1-1: Lone Star couple was so hot that they burned up the screen for the second year in a row.

But it wasn't just love scenes that turned up the heat in 2021. Sometimes, no touch at all was involved, like when Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist cued up a sultry musical number or when Lee Pace delivered an arousing threat on Foundation. We also give props to Dancing With the Stars and Saturday Night Live for two sexually charged performances that raised the temperatures in their respective studios.

Review all of our sexy selections below, plus press PLAY to rewatch some of them (or maybe wait, if you're reading this in an office environment). Then hit the comments with your picks for the scenes that got you all flustered in 2021!

9-1-1: LONE STAR

Things between T.K. and Carlos tend to run hot, so we weren't entirely surprised when they were too busy getting down to business to notice that their house was on fire — all to the tune of "Fever." As the song goes, what a lovely way to burn. (Season 2, Episode 12)

CHICAGO FIRE

From his coy smile to her come-hither look to the way the pair undressed each other with "yeah, we're finally doing this" grins, Casey and Brett's first time together was a slow, steamy affair punctuated by a perfectly sultry song choice ("Rest" by Michael Kiwanuka). We imagine the memory of that evening has kept Casey and Brett company on many a lonely night during their now long-distance relationship. (Season 9, Episode 16)

DANCING WITH THE STARS

For their dance-off on Janet Jackson Night, JoJo Siwa (with partner Jenna Johnson) and Olivia Jade (with partner Val Chmerkovskiy) were assigned the rumba, an already-sexy style that the pairs made absolutely scorching. Johnson and Chmerkovskiy are actually married outside of the ABC ballroom, but for these steamy 90 seconds, they only had eyes for their dance partners. (Season 30, Episode 9)

DICKINSON

Apple TV+'s literary comedy became a real bodice-ripper when Emily and her not-so-secret crush Sue finally reunited after a season apart. A fiery argument turned into a long-overdue make-out session and then traveled to the dinner table as they fed each other highly suggestive fruits and cakes before ending up in the bathtub with a luxurious, petal-strewn bath for two. (Season 2, Episode 10)

ELITE

In the past, the Netflix teen drama has given us multiple threesomes. But this year, a newbie twosome delivered the season's hottest moment. And while, normally, we'd hate to waste dessert or to get it on expensive bedsheets, Mencía and Rebeka licking chocolate off each other looked to be, um, tasty. (Season 4, Episode 5)

FOUNDATION

Literally everything Lee Pace did in Foundation's first season registers as sexual, but if we had to pin down one moment that really stood out, it's when his Brother Day reached peak menace in the finale. Sitting next to Azura (who tried to run away with Brother Dawn) in a beautiful garden, he eloquently explained in excruciating detail how he has wiped her memory from existence — everyone she's ever met executed with the wave of two fingers. Terrifying and sexy at the same time. Send help. (Season 1, Episode 10)

GOOD GIRLS

Beth and Rio always had such electric chemistry. But after he almost caught her bugging his grandma's home for the FBI, Beth diverted his attention (and possibly saved her life) the only way she knew how: by seducing him. While it may not have been their steamiest hookup ever, any time these two got it on, it was always an affair to remember. (Season 4, Episode 6)

INSECURE

In this steamy love scene, Molly gets frisky with a convenient boo named Cliff, whom she asks to spell her name with his tongue. At first, Molly complains when she thinks he misspells it with an "a" instead of an "o." But it feels so good, she agrees to change the spelling if only for a moment of hot passion. (Season 5, Episode 5)

NEW AMSTERDAM

"Sharpwin" 'shippers were rewarded for their patience when Max and Helen, at long last, acted on their long-simmering feelings for each other in the Season 4 opener. Their night of passion started off on a humorous note — she asked if he wanted a tour when he commented mid-kiss on how big her apartment is — but the action quickly turned serious as Max and Helen took pleasure in getting to know each other on a new level. (Season 4, Episode 1)

THE OTHER TWO

Brooke's ex Lance was dating someone new, but they started feeling those old feelings again while laughing and reminiscing together in a hotel room. So they ended up, um, pleasuring themselves while lying in separate beds and staring into each other's eyes. It was probably wrong, definitely weird... and still kind of hot. (Season 2, Episode 9)

THE REPUBLIC OF SARAH

One way to stay warm while snowed in during a blizzard? Have an illicit hookup, as exes Danny and Corinne did when they found themselves trapped together during a storm. But rather than talking out their unresolved issues, they gave into their feelings, stripped off their clothes and got it on against multiple surfaces, cold be damned! (Season 1, Episode 8)

RIVERDALE

"Barchie" fans had to wait five seasons for Archie and Betty to finally hook up... but it was worth the wait. Our patience was rewarded with an extra steamy shower scene between the two lifelong pals that made us forget all about Veronica and Jughead. (Season 5, Episode 5)

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

We're confident that Bad Bunny and Rosalía's SNL performance of "La noche de anoche" had actual lyrics, but we were so busy wondering if the collaborators were going to kiss, we could hardly pay attention to the music. They never did lock lips on stage, but Google searches for "Bad Bunny Rosalía dating" surely spiked that night. (Season 46, Episode 13)

SEX EDUCATION

We'd be remiss not to honor one of TV's most unabashedly raunchy shows in our round-up, but this particular hookup between Maeve and Isaac was sexier for its sweet, soft intimacy. Not only was the scene a rare, refreshing representation of sexuality among people with disabilities, but the way the teens asked each other questions about their turn-ons, and touched each other with such intent, elevated it to one of the show's most sensual sequences. It's no wonder that lasagna in the oven started to burn: The temperature was climbing in there. (Season 3, Episode 4)

TED LASSO

In the real world, a hook-up between a soccer team owner and one of her much younger players would've begged a ton of critical questions. But in the Apple TV+ comedy's idealized, super-kind world, we just reveled in the combined hotness/sweetness of Rebecca and Sam — particularly when we got to see them put the "nude" in canoodle for the first time. (Season 2, Episode 10)

THE WHEEL OF TIME

Talk about a role reversal! Earlier in the episode "The Flame of Tar Valon," a stern Siuan aka the Amyrlin Seat called Moiraine on the carpet in front of her fellow Aes Sedai, ordering her "on her knees" to hear her punishment for insubordination. That evening, though, we realized the true nature of the ladies' dynamic, when Moiraine transported herself to a private meet-up with Siuan, whom she ordered invited to be "on your knees"  — and for the purpose of pure pleasure, not penance.  (Season 1, Episode 6)

ZOEY'S EXTRAORDINARY PLAYLIST

Max eventually captured Zoey's heart, but Simon certainly got her (and us) hot and bothered for a moment when he delivered a super smooth rendition of Ariana Grande's "Into You," complete with sultry dance moves. Simon's hands never even touched Zoey as he hovered over the lines of her body, and yet, she seemed to be on fire. (Season 2, Episode 8)
