The Santa Clauses: Charlie And Bernard Return In New Sequel Series Trailer
Consider it an early Christmas gift.
Disney+ on Thursday dropped the full-length trailer for the highly anticipated Santa Clause sequel series The Santa Clauses, and it reveals our first look at the return of two fan-favorite characters: Eric Lloyd as Scott's son Charlie, and David Krumholtz as trusty elf Bernard (see photos below).
The six-episode limited series finds Tim Allen's Scott "on the brink of his 65th birthday and realizing that he can't be Santa forever," according to the official logline. "He's starting to lose a step in his Santa duties, and more importantly, he's got a family who could benefit from a life in the normal world, especially his two kids who have grown up at the Pole. With a lot of elves, children, and family to please, Scott sets out to find a suitable replacement Santa while preparing his family for a new adventure in a life south of the pole."
The above trailer reveals the precise moment Scott realizes that he's starting to lose his Christmas magic: He falls off a roof, just like his predecessor did in the original 1994 film. Of course, Scott doesn't fall to his death. He returns home to the North Pole and tells his family that he's ready to hang up his jolly red hat — a decision that Charlie, who now appears to be married, didn't realize his father could make.
What follows is a glimpse of Scott in retirement — including a very complicated coffee order! — and the problems that arise once he returns to civilian life.
In addition to Allen and Elizabeth Mitchell, who are returning as Scott and Carol Calvin, the Santa Clauses ensemble includes franchise newcomer Kal Penn.
The sequel series will launch with its first two episodes on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The remaining episodes will unspool over four weeks, with the finale landing on Dec. 14. Press PLAY on the trailer above, then hit the comments with your reactions.
