The Voice: Season 13's Best Blind Auditions Ranked

the voice season 13 anthony alexander

1. Anthony Alexander, "Redbone"

It would've been more than sufficiently wow-some if this son of a former Voice cameraman had just shown off his outta-this-stratosphere falsetto. Instead, he redefined "wow-some" by adding to the mix a growly lower register that you could've convinced us came out of a different singer.

the voice season 13 ashland craft

5. Ashland Craft, "You Are My Sunshine"

If you're ever asked what it would sound like if gravel sang, your answer should be this performance. But it wasn't just the grittiness of the South Carolinian's rapturously raspy voice that made her an insta-standout, it was the fact that she backed it up with enough power to be heard three counties over.

the voice season 13 brooke simpson

4. Brooke Simpson, "Stone Cold"

It would be easy to let this Native-American vocalist's adorkable girl-next-door appearance fool you into thinking she was the quiet type... that is, until she opened her mouth and let loose, singing with a breathtaking combination of control and abandon.

the voice season 13 chris weaver

2. Chris Weaver, "Try a Little Tenderness"

"Shantay, you stay," we wanted to say after the Long Island drag queen brought down the house with his Otis Redding cover. Not only was coach Jennifer moved to throw a shoe at him — and not for the first time, we learned — we came away with a case of the (Chris) Blues from which we still haven't recovered.

the voice season 13 davon fleming

7. Davon Fleming, "Me and Mr. Jones"

Impressive as the Baltimore native's unhinged Amy Winehouse cover was — and it was wild! — what really secured him a spot on this list was the fact that he didn't miss a beat, or even seem intimidated, when future coach Jennifer invited him to join in on an impromptu duet of his favorite Whitney Houston song, "I Will Always Love You."

the voice season 13 jon mero

9. Jon Mero, "Versace on the Floor"

The 31-year-old Georgian's bedroom-voiced rendition of Bruno Mars' seductive smash earned him a four-chair turn. And his stage presence — while OK, occasionally crossing the border from swaggering to cheesy — suggests that he's more than a singer, an entertainer.

the voice season 13 shi ann jones

3. Shi'Ann Jones, "Drown in My Own Tears"

The 15-year-old dynamo didn't just take us to church, she blew off the steeple and gave us a preview of how amazing the concerts in heaven must be. No wonder JHud wanted the kid on her team so badly that she warned her fellow coaches not to turn their chairs for her.

the voice season 13 emily luther

6. Emily Luther, "Summertime"

After being bowled over by the Annie Lennox sound-alike's pitch-perfect take on Ella Fitzgerald, Blake noted quite rightly, "There's nobody like you in this competition at all." If only she hadn't picked as her coach Adam, who infamously stuck Lilli Passero with "Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" last season.

the voice season 13 moriah formica

8. Moriah Formica, "Crazy on You"

The 16-year-old rocker didn't just put into her Ann and Nancy cover a lot of, ahem, heart, she put into it a lot of heart wrapped, appropriately, in barbed wire. She was so good, in fact, that we almost — almost! — forgave Adam for suggesting she could give the Wilson sisters a transplant.

the voice season 13 noah mac

10. Noah Mac, "Way Down We Go"

Since this 17-year-old is so boy-band adorbs that he inspired Miley to blurt out, "You're hot," he could have coasted on his looks and still made it pretty far in this contest. But, unlike Season 12's teenage dream Mark Isaiah, Noah can actually sing, and has a gritty, powerful voice that's more One Republic than One Direction.
