The Witcher Season 3 Part 2 Trailer: Get A Sneak Peek At Henry Cavill's Final Episodes As Geralt
Henry Cavill is laying down his sword and stepping away from The Witcher — and now we have a first look at his farewell.
Netflix has released a trailer for Season 3, Part 2 of the hit video game adaptation (premiering Thursday, July 27 on the streamer), and in it, Cavill's Geralt carves his way through his enemies before declaring to Ciri and Yennefer: "We didn't come this far just to abandon each other." Ciri is on the run (and dodges a many-toothed sand worm) and Yennefer prepares for battle as Jaskier warns, "The war brewing outside is nothing compared to what Geralt will unleash to protect his daughter." But it might all be for naught: The trailer's final shot is a seemingly lifeless Geralt floating face down in the water as we hear him say, "There's no coming back from this."
"As monarchs, mages, and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it," according to the official description. "Entrusted with Ciri's magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl's untapped powers; instead, they discover they've landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever."
Season 3, Part 2 — which consists of just three episodes — marks the end of Cavill's run as Geralt of Rivia, with Liam Hemsworth taking over the role for Season 4. "My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4," Cavill said in a statement. "In my stead, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf."
