Yellowstone: Best Of Season 3

If you've yet to watch Yellowstone's finale, you might want to put off reading this countdown for a spell, as it most definitely contains spoilers for Sunday's climactic finale. Otherwise, go ahead and dive in, because we're going to relive Season 3's highlights — or, well, lowlights if your name happens to be Wade Morrow.

8. 'Today You Made a Difference'

Monica's determination to help her community seemed to peak in "I Killed a Man Today." She not only used herself as bait to catch a serial killer preying on Native American women, she got the sicko on the first try, survived the ordeal (thanks, Mo!) and lived to tell the tale.

Bonus Entry: 'That Wasn't So Bad, Was It?'

It took nearly being trampled to death by Wade and his son, but in "Meaner Than Evil," Teeter finally got a kiss from Colby. After he stapled shut — yes, stapled! — the terrible gash on her forehead, he reassured her that she'd be OK by gently pressing his lips to hers.

10. 'It's Only an Insult If I Understand It'

A diss is just a diss... or was it? Sparks flew like asteroids when Beth confronted Roarke in Season 3's premiere. "I see Chippendale's changed their policy on capped teeth," she spat at the trespasser. Whether he'd caught any fish, he had definitely been hooked.

11. 'Call Me That Again'

After Rip revealed to Beth how much he liked it when she called him baby in "Going Back to Cali," he asked what he should call her. "Wife," she replied in a rare, unguarded moment, one from which she immediately retreated. "I didn't mean that." Sure ya didn't, Beth. Suuure.

7. 'I'm Being Your First'

Jimmy might've taken a devastating fall off a bucking bronco way sooner if he'd realized what would happen afterwards: New girlfriend Mia stopped by his hospital room, dropped trou and sweetly wiped the "virgin" off of his "scared virgin face."

3. 'Quit Movin'!'

When Beth finally confided in her father that Jamie's "help" with a teenage abortion was the reason that she couldn't have children, John lit into his son with murder in his eyes. "Who the f–k did you think you were to take that from her?" hollered the Dutton patriarch, in his gut realizing that everything he'd done had been, as the episode was titled, "All for Nothing."

9. 'Karma Comes in All Shapes and Sizes'

It was do or die for Walker in Season 3's penultimate episode. Either he cut off of Wade's chest his Yellowstone brand, or the "deceased" would be killed right after the old coot. Needless to say, Walker saved his own skin by carving the bastard who'd nearly killed Teeter and Colby.

4. 'I Need to Know You, or I Will Never Know Myself'

In "Meaner Than Evil," Jamie couldn't resist. He just had to go meet his biological father, who was quick to admit that he'd killed Jamie's mother because she'd sold her body for drug money. Nonetheless, Jamie — formerly Michael — insisted on getting to know the ex-con. Mm-hmm. That was gonna go well.

12. 'Lie to Me Again, I'ma Stop Hitting Ya and Start Beating Ya'

Newly-appointed Livestock Commissioner Kayce pulled off one of the more amazing busts in television history in "The Beating" when he not only took off on horseback after a cattle rustler in a truck but caught up to him and lassoed him around the neck through the driver's side window!

5. 'Who the F–k Are You?'

That was the $64,000 question that Jamie had to ask himself after, almost by chance, discovering not only that he'd been adopted by the Duttons but that his biological father had served time in prison... for the murder of his biological mother! You could guess what would happen next, right?

2. 'I'd Like Some Diamonds, Actually'

Though in "Going Back to Cali," Beth had backpedaled on her proposal to Rip, after disclosing that she couldn't have children, she presented him with a simple ring and officially popped the question in "The Beating." "The only thing I ask," she said, "is that you outlive me." The only thing we ask is that they both outlive the series; we couldn't bear to see them parted!

1. 'The Whole F–king Valley's Dying Today'

Season 3 went out with a bang — a whole bunch of 'em — and a boom to boot! In the jaw-dropping final moments of "The World Is Purple," Roarke and Willa had John gunned down (along with his despised cell phone and an unfortunate motorist), Beth blown up and Kayce turned into a target-practice bull's-eye. In other words, "OMG" didn't even begin to cover it!

6. 'Ya Say What Ya Mean, and Ya Do What Ya Say'

We laughed right along with Kayce when, in the season finale, the chairmen of the Stock Growers Assoc. paid the new Livestock Commissioner a visit to say that they wanted to — and, in fact, could — make him the next governor of Montana. And despite Kayce's (and our) reaction, they were deadly serious.
