Animal Control And Going Dutch Renewed At Fox
Fox is keeping its live-action comedy duo intact: The network has renewed Joel McHale's Animal Control for Season 4 and the Denis Leary-led military comedy Going Dutch for Season 2.
"Animal Control and Going Dutch are proven winners thanks to signature FOX characters brought to life by Joel and Denis — two of the funniest comedic voices on TV today, giving us an ideal foundation for building our new comedy block," Fox president Michael Thorn said in a statement. "With a focus on creating irreverent, fun workplace humor that's both outrageous and unpredictable, Joel, Denis, their castmates and production teams deliver reliably laugh-out-loud moments week-after-week that will keep fans coming back season-after-season."
McHale stars in Animal Control as Frank Shaw, a former cop who now leads the animal control department in Seattle. The supporting cast includes Vella Lovell, Michael Rowland, Ravi V. Patel and Grace Palmer. Season 3 finished airing in March, averaging just under 1.8 million total viewers (with delayed playback), down 17% from its sophomore run.
Going Dutch stars Leary as Colonel Patrick Quinn, a hard-nosed military man who gets assigned to oversee a lowly service base in the Netherlands. Community alum Danny Pudi plays his loyal executive officer Abraham Shah, with Dave's Taylor Misiak as Quinn's daughter Maggie, who also happens to be the service base's commanding officer. The supporting cast also includes Laci Mosley and Hal Cumpston.
Going Dutch debuted in January, wrapping up its 10-episode freshman season in March. The Jan. 2 series premiere recruited 1.31 million total viewers along with a 0.2 demo rating, representing only a slight drop from its Animal Control lead-in. (Read our recap of the series premiere here.)
