Barbara Rush, Peyton Place And All My Children Actress, Dead At 97

Barbara Rush, the actress known for her roles in Peyton Place and All My Children, died Sunday. She was 97.

The news was confirmed to Fox News Digital by her daughter, Fox News senior correspondent Claudia Cowan.

"My wonderful mother passed away peacefully at 5:28 this evening," Cowan said. "I was with her this morning and know she was waiting for me to return home safely to transition. It's fitting she chose to leave on Easter as it was one of her favorite holidays and now, of course, Easter will have a deeper significance for me and my family."

Rush was a regular on the fifth and final season of ABC's primetime soap Peyton Place, which ended its run June 2, 1969. She starred as Marsha Russell, a woman who falls in love with Ed Nelson's character toward the series' end. From 1992-1994, she played Nola Orsini in All My Children, starring in a total of 35 episodes.

She guest-starred in a plethora of other shows including 7th Heaven, where she played Eric's mother, Grandma Ruth Camden, for 10 episodes. Her TV credits also include Magnum, P.I., The Outer Limits, The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Murder, She Wrote, Maude, The Fugitive, Batman and many more.

On the film side of things, she became a fan-favorite for sci-fi fans thanks to her work in When Worlds Collide (1951) and It Came From Outer Space (1953). She won a Golden Globe in 1954 for the latter in the New Star of the Year — Actress category.
