China Beach, One Of TVLine Readers' Top 10 Unstreamed Shows, Is Finally Available — 4 Fan Favorites Still Missing

The ABC classic China Beach, which ran for four seasons between 1988 and 1991, has long been one of TVLine readers' most sought-after titles not available to stream. Up until now, the only way to relive the Vietnam War-era medical drama was on DVD.

But as of this week, Howdy, Roku's newly launched, ad-free streaming service — which costs just $2.99/month — is the exclusive online home to all 61 episodes.

For the uninitiated: China Beach takes place during the Vietnam War, as "three women fight to maintain their sanity amid the carnage," according to the official logline. Dana Delany (Body of Proof, Desperate Housewives, Tulsa King) won a pair of Emmys for her turn as First Lieutenant (and later Captain) Colleen McMurphy, while the cast also included Michael Boatman (as Pvt. Samuel Beckett), Robert Picardo (as Dr. Dick Richard), Concetta Tomei (as Maj. Lila Garreau), Marg Helgenberger (as K.C. Kolowski), Brian Wimmer (as Cpl. Boonie Lanier), Oliver Theess (as The Soldier), Jeff Kober (as Sgt. Evan "Dodger" Winslow), Nancy Giles (as Pvt. Frankie Bunsen), Troy Evans (as Sgt. Pepper), Megan Gallagher (as Wayloo Marie Holmes), Michael J. Henderson (as Beetle), Nan Woods (as Cherry White), Marcia Magus (as Nurse Jody Kass), Ned Vaughn (as Jeff Hyers) and Ricki Lake (as Holly Pelegrino).

It was two years ago when TVLine ran a list of the 10 Most Requested TV Shows Not Available on a Major Streaming Service. Since then, China Beach, along with Homicide: Life on the Street, Knots Landing, Moonlighting, Northern Exposure and Sisters, have all been made available on streaming platforms. As of press time, the four fan favorites that remain homeless are Boston Public, Chicago Hope, Ed and Murphy Brown.
