Devery Jacobs To Receive ATX TV Festival's Breakthrough Award (Exclusive)
Reservation Dogs standout Devery Jacobs will receive ATX TV Festival's annual Breakthrough Award, which recognizes an individual whose creative voice "exemplifies the emotional, entertaining and artistic possibilities of the medium," the festival announced Wednesday.
The actress will discuss her career in a one-on-one conversation, including her multi-hyphenate role as actor, writer and director on FX's critically acclaimed series Reservation Dogs, her recent role in Marvel Studios' Echo and the feature film Backspot, which she both produces and stars in.
In addition, the festival also announced new updates to its Season 13 line-up which include:
- "Talk Scary (TV) to Me: A Conversation with Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel" — Spouses and horror connoisseurs Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel (The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass) discuss the current state (and future) of horror TV and their creative journeys.
- "The Monologue Case Study with Mike Flanagan" — Showrunner, writer and director Flanagan will also join for an inside look at the process of writing and directing some of TV's most memorable monologues.
- "Fright or Flight: Close Up on Horror Acting with Kate Siegel" — The actress will explore horror acting from the female perspective, the unique hallmarks that define a great horror performance and the art of subverting expectations within the genre.
- "Trial By Content (Live!)" — The Ringer's original podcast Trial By Content conducts a live, TV-themed episode with hosts Joanna Robinson, Dave Gonzales and Neil Miller.
- "Casting Discoveries: First Gigs and Big Breaks" — Casting directors and actors join for an inside look at the collaborative process of shaping the perfect ensemble. Panelists include Reservation Dogs casting director Angelique Midthunder and casting associate Stacey Rice, and The Bear casting director Jeanie Bacharach (The Bear).
- Actor Toby Huss will join the previously announced Halt and Catch Fire retrospective alongside creators Christopher C. Rogers and Christopher Cantwell, executive producers Melissa Bernstein and Mark Johnson, and cast members Kerry Bishé and Scoot McNairy.
Other previously announced panels include a Suits retrospective with its creator and cast, The Pitch Competition's live finale and "Presidential Forum: On TV, the Industry and What's Next."
Badges for the event are now on sale at atxfestival.com. Badges range in price from $150-$535, with single tickets for select events going on sale closer to the festival dates.
