Dexter: Original Sin Renewed For Season 2

Young Dexter Morgan is here to slay: Prequel series Dexter: Original Sin has been renewed for Season 2, TVLine has learned.

The pickup comes six weeks after the release of the Season 1 finale, which bowed Feb. 14 on Paramount+ With Showtime; TVLine readers grade the finale (and Season 1 overall) an average grade of "A+."

The offshoot is set in the 1990s and is centered on a younger version of the serial killer, this time played by Shadow and Bone's Patrick Gibson. (Original series star Michael C. Hall both narrates the prequel and will star in Dexter: Resurrection this summer opposite Uma Thurman and a heap of famous franchise faces.) Per Original Sin's official description, young Dexter is unable to control his "bloodthirsty urges" and must learn to "channel his inner darkness."

Joining Gibson are Molly Brown (Billions) as his sister Deb and Christian Slater (Mr. Robot) as his adoptive father Harry. The cast also includes Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Patrick Dempsey (Grey's Anatomy), James Martinez (Love, Victor), Christina Milian (Grandfathered), Alex Shimizu (The Blacklist) and Reno Wilson (Good Girls).

A start of production date on Season 2 has not yet been announced.
